I ordered a Bronco over 8 months ago, in Sept got scheduled for Oct production, that was pushed back a couple weeks then finally got it built and shipped to my dealer. When I contacted the dealer they said first they hadn't seen it then the GM called me and said it arrived and they didn't know whose it was so they had already sold it. Should I just write off Ford?

They F*cked you brah. You received a window sticker ? The dealer got the same one, and if you ordered it it would have been tied to your name.

Firstly, complete sympathies for you getting totally shafted by your dealership. Saying they had no idea who's it was is complete and utter BS. They could have searched by VIN number in their system and seen clear as day who held the order of the VIN.

Now is there anything you can do about it...
1. Call Ford customer service and have them transfer you to a Bronco specialist. Tell them what happened and make a complaint. There really isn't anything Ford corporate can do about the transaction, but there are some backend consequences for stuff like that.

2. Consult a consumer protection attorney. I doubt they would charge you for a quick consult to see if there are any applicable consumer protection laws in your state that might apply. If there are, and you choose to retain the attorney, that's when the charges will start.

3. If any of your local news stations have a "consumer advocate", give them a call. No business wants to be on the wrong side of a consumer protection story on the local news, so it might get them to work something out.

Good luck!

1) call Mike Levine (Ford) ….he specializes in telling dealerships how Ford will cut their allocations if they don’t do right by you. He can get them yo make good.

Or

2) Speak with the owner of the dealership or someone above who attempted to BS you… come armed with your window sticker and your order printout… WEBDO (I think that what it’s called)

Or

3) The local news consumer advocate team would be your best bet…to harm them with bad publicity.

Or

4)take the owner/ top officer of the dealership to small claims court… damages could be the months of wasted time without the use of your Bronco… and also each day you were without your car after it arrived… that VIN number has your name associated with it ….the dealership had a responsibility to contact you… clearly damages can be established by their negligence.. and acting in bad faith.

Hope this helps!

Levin will do nothing. The guy is useless and spends all his time trolling Musk and Tesla. Dealership did a screw job and Ford will most likely do nothing about it.

your Bronco showed up only 8 months after you ordered it? That's amazing. Did the dealership return your deposit? I'd start out by talking to the manager or owner of the place. From what I've seen other people who posted similar things...not much was done.

He's helped a few people. But ultimately he doesn't have a whole lot of sway--he's in charge of the communications department at Ford. His "power" (if you want to call it that) comes from the fact he is one of the more public-facing managers at Ford... and it looks really bad as a dealer if a high-ish level Ford employee says on Twitter "sorry, I talked to the dealer and they won't make it right for you".

But it's just public pressure and ultimately he can't force dealers to do anything.

---

ANYWAY... I frankly don't believe the GM when he says "We don't know who the Bronco belong to so we sold it." That shows a complete inability to properly do your job and if I was the owner of that dealer I would immediately fire that GM... OR... they are straight up lying and they don't deserve to be in business. If they look up the VIN number in WBDO they should of been able to see it is a retail order and that your name is attached. It's honestly not hard.

Anyway... I would contact Ford and see what they can do. They won't be able to get you your Bronco back, but they may be able to give you a path to submit a 2023MY order.

What was the Bronco you ordered? I'm probably not the only curious one about the model, trim & option model. A few other thoughts:

1) File a police report, and be sure the VIN is included, plus the name(s) of any dealership salesmen or sales directors. Let them know what you've done, and politely but firmly inform them that you are pursuing various "civil and criminal remedies." Don't let the local district tell you this is strictly civil and they don't cover it. Tell them your lawyer insisted upon a police report because you're considering larceny charges. "Breach of contract" has overlap with larceny.
2) Keep an organized fil(hard copy!) of every document you have. This includes the window sticker, the sales contract, your receipt for your deposit, the credit card statement with the deposit charge if you put that on a card. Any and everything you have. print out every email and text with any/every party to this.
3) Create a chronological log and reconstruct any phone calls and personal conversations you had with any/every one. Ford, dealer, media, everybody. Write summaries of your conversations. Print out every digital correspondence.
4) Connect with TV and print stations, ask for their consumer affairs desk. Every. Single. One.
5) Do connect with the state consumer affairs office, and keep pestering them. Read Luke 18:1-18 in the Bible (google it), you'll get my point.
6) Be open to giving them an off-ramp: "Somebody probably wasn't paying attention to the details on this vehicle, let's try and work out a solution. Neither of us want this to get complicated. Or ugly."
7) When you visit the dealership, bring that file with you. Take notes "write" in front of them--show them you're serious.
8) Be persistent. Be polite (never raise your voice or whine). Be firm. Be organized!

So much this. What a crappy dealer. I'm sure some prick with a lot of cash came to the dealer and offered a lot more than the asking price, so they sold it to him or her.

Slow your roll there. As a cop for 26 years don’t do that. It is a civil matter, not criminal. That is in regards to point one. All the other points are spot on.

I think a lot of us would really like to know from the OP where this stands with the dealer.

For everyone saying "call the cops", get a lawyer, yada yada yada....we don't know the full story. Was it a stock unit that was promised to the OP and the dealer had it out there for the first come first serve to several others, is the DORA in the OP's name, is it an abandoned reservation,...so many questions. Did the OP change their mind about wanting it and sent a text to the salesperson, cancelled the order only to keep getting updates and think it was still his?

We've seen so many of these stories take a twist, while we're bbq'ing the dealer, the poster is the one causing the drama. Just something to think about.

Hoping the OP is in the right and gets some satisfaction though.
