Mud guards

Does anyone know of mudguards that would work to keep the tires from throwing road dirt onto the front bumper, rear bumper, and side steps? I know it’s a badge of honor but I’m getting tired of having to rinse these areas down after driving in the rain and I hate to think what it will be like once the snow flies. Personally, I view it as a design flaw.

Look at companies like: Ford, Mabett, IAG, Weather Tech. Sites such as Extreme Terrain. Or try Google search engine or Amazon. Tons of options for you

Gatorback flaps work very well. If I understand your front bumper ??, you would need a separate flap in front of your tire. I've never seen that. I have hoop steps, four door, and they keep the mud/dirt off and protect the sides. Some of the ones mentioned above are too short and only protect the very front sides of the truck. The other nice thing about Gatorback is you can take the lower portion off if you are rock climbing, etc. and they get in the way. They just slide off.

I have mabett and like them. If you get them and have rock rails use the padding in between or it will rattle like crazy and drive you nuts.

Even during test drives I immediately noticed rocks being thrown by the front tires and hitting the undercarriage, running boards and doors. My first mod was installing mud flaps behind the front tires. I wanted something no-drill and as inconspicuous as possible while being effective in stopping rocks and mud from being thrown up. After researching options including Gatorback, Weathertech and others I settled on Mabett. (IAG seems to be the same product.). I’m very happy with them. Available on Amazon for $80 for the front pair or $130 for front and rear.

I don't see a solution to front-bumper/undercarriage protection. You're going to get inclement debris there. Consider the Aeroskin hood protector for reducing hood-windshield debris (mud, bugs), but the bumper & grill? SaranWrap, maybe? 😉

Are you into serious off-roading? If so, you absolutely need very flexible or removable mudflaps. Rigid flaps like the OEM, iAG/Mabbet (they're the same) will break off on obstacles. Don't even try it. But they're fine for daily drive, even in snow, and maintained dirt roads. I have a set you can have for shipping costs alone, or a hand-off in central New England.

If you do rock crawling or expect serious obstacles, consider the Diamondback, which have lower portions you can remove. I have, and recommend 100%, the RockBlokz, kind of pricey, but you get what you pay for: 1: they're removable, and 2) they bend; and 3) they really keep the splash under control.

My RokBlokz combine with my full-length (not hoop steps) iAG step/running board, which comes off nice and fast for my off-road excursions, and work together to protect the lower truck areas. iAG (their flap is the same Chinese product as Mabbet) is based in Maryland. Their steps are US-made, as is the RokBlokz (San Diego).

Again: if you want an iAG/Mabbet set (full hardware) for shipping alone, message me!

Another thread. Also, lots of threads on the subject on the other site--but they banned me!

Traditional mud flaps will do half the job. The other half is where the rear tires throw mud forward onto the running board and the front tire throws mud onto the front bumper. Guess I’ll just have to live with it.

Definitely go with RokBlokz, they are easily removable and really do an outstanding job of keeping rocks, mud etc from ruining the side the bronco and rocker panels.

I wanted something unobtrusive and inexpensive. I ended up buying the Ford OEM mudflaps for the front wheels. The price was about $50 or so. The only issue is that they (the ones I ordered, at least) aren't compatible with the rock rails. By the time I got around to installing them, my return window was gone. I was inspired by someone else to just cut a hole for the rock rails, which I did by tracing around the rails on the flap with a pencil and then cutting it out with a utility knife. I started conservatively, so I had to go back and cut a little more to perfect it, but the end result is a very clean, subtle look.

I went with Rally Armor. They are reasonable price and work great. They have been in the business for a long time of making mud flaps.

The gatorback flaps allow you to remove them for the heavy off roaders.

Thanks, (fellow)Geezer--I had a "Joe" moment and got my names confused. Diamondback makes pickup truck covers. I meant Gatorbacks, which allow you to remove the lower portion for off-roading. Makes good sense: you keep partial protection for those times you can pick up speed --and rocks-- when off pavement.

As I said, I went with the RokBlokz, and am not having buyers remorse. I did some serious offroading in Vermont a month ago, and had other drivers take careful observation of my RokBlokz when rockcrawling. They told me they bent backwards, and snapped back right into place after returning to flat surface. I'd like to see how they bend on serious Moab rockcrawling someday.

PS: Check Ford for GatorBacks on Black Friday sale. I saw banner posts of 15% but also 20%, not sure which applies. Still expensive, though.

I would recommend the Mabett mud flaps. I say this as they are the only ones I have found that cover the gap on the rear between the bumper and the body. They seal this gap off (as shown in the photos below), so it not only looks better, but it stops road crap from getting up onto your bumper.
As to removing them for rock crawling, I find they are fairly easy to remove and re-install. Not as easy as the Gator Backs though, however a big difference in price.

In the Features and Details description for the Mabett mud flaps it says, “If you have 35" tires and no lift, they will rub in some cases.” Has anyone experienced this? Is it an issue? I’m thinking about buying some but, you know it, I have 35” tires and no lift.
