If I want to remove the roof to enjoy a nice day in the sun, am I going to have to undo all the wiring for the lights in order to get the roof off?

The short answer as stated above is, no.

Attached below is a diagram prepared by @swooshdave and it is brilliant!
Prior to beginning any wiring modifications you should become familiar with the available wire circuits.

The answer is it depends on how and where you mounted the lights.

No, they are NOT connected to the removable roof and are on the top of the frame itself.

am I the only one thoroughly confused by that diagram? so for some of them (B, C, D, and E), you don't access the power from the distribution block, but from other areas on the vehicle?

What happens if you have a roof rack? Appears the roof rack and lights use the same accessory holes...

I suggest that anybody who has ordered a roof rack who wants to mount lights cancel said roof rack order

the aftermarket for the bronco is already better than the stuff they are giving from the factory.

Look how the Ford Pre-productions are attached in many of the photos (NOT AM trucks) and that will tell you right there they are attached to the rack.

There is a how-to video that shows the addition of a light bar and accessory wiring which involves drilling a hole under the roof rack mounting cover.

Maybe a subcategory can be created by admin for all roof related threads? To include soft top, fastback soft tops, MIC and Hard tops. Maybe including videos of hard top and MIC and I think, removal of front panels with rack and or light bar attached? Also add in aux switch video above and wiring diagram, video of light bar wire hole being drilled out and fishing of wire. a one stop shop for information. More readily available and accessible with out involved searching. Once established new items can be added and or removed as needed. Then we can branch out to new subcategories and repeat the process.

I suspect many Bronco owners will opt for a light bar placed at the top of the windshield. Especially those owners who engage in high-speed desert runs. Besides, it can look wicked cool.

However, before you set your heart on that placement location, you might want to look at the following video from “Last Line of Defense”. I advanced it to 7:36 where Mike begins talking about his two light bars with the pros and cons. Keep in mind, Mike’s wind deflector helps with reflections which some owners may not have.

To aid in flushing out the issue of reflections off the dash, hood, or other aftermarket attachments on your front bumper, I have attached a second video. Hope this helps.
