With the unprecedented popularity of the Bronco, I have got to think that assembling the Ranger down the same assembly line as the Bronco cuts Bronco production by at least 1 shift. Any talk about moving the Ranger to another plant to increase Bronco production capacity? I mean if not, the numbers suggest Ford is losing sales by limiting capacity of both vehicle types.

They would go to 3 shifts first before they would consider adding another assembly plant. Assembly plants are planned around long term demand. They wouldn't consider doing it unless long term demand remained high enough to justify it. Demand after the intial surge passes in the first 1-2 years.

It takes years to build and tool up a new plant or convert over an existing plant. They have to consider what plant they could move Ranger to where they could build it alongside another vehicle. They can build unibody and BOF vehicles on the same line but it's not that common to do it. Wixom assembly plant used to have the Towncar, Continental and LS on the same line.

Ohhhh imagine that.
They must be able to switcheroo that build line easily.

Of course that limits model production.
Interesting business decision...?

There is a lot of capitol equipment involved an an assembly line. Thats a huge cost for them to outlay on a new product they don’t know the long term sales of. The bronco has alot of excitement around it but it doesn’t have the volume of say an F150 right now.
