Manual or Auto for the four door Badlands

I currently drive a 97 TJ 4 cyl 3.55 gear ratio Manual with 33" tires. I wrecked my F150 last year and decided to drive the TJ until I get my Bronco.
Driving that as a DD over the past year has me questioning some things about my Bronco order. The Jeep is a dog trying to get up to speeds, or holding high speeds.

Before getting to my questions here are some thoughts around my Bronco order
  1. As much as I would like the 2-door Bronco, it just will not fit my current lifestyle (kids, etc.). It will be a combo daily driver, and offroad vehicle for me.
  2. I REALLY want a Manual. There are many reasons why, and most of them are not rooted in fact; rather more rooted in what I like and feel.
  3. Badlands package
  4. Marine grade interior with rubber floors
  5. I am thinking of forgoing the Sasquatch package, but might be persuaded otherwise
  6. Hard top and softop

Anyways, the question is this:

If you were buying the four door in a Manual in a Badlands model, are there any other options/changes I should consider?
Not sure if we have options for different gear ratios, for example.

Will come with the 4.70 gears when opting for the manual so you should be good on gearing and have room to add larger tires down the road. Although the $2500 for the Squatch is not cheap, it is a good deal for 5 forged wheels and 35" tires. It also comes with whatever "high clearance suspension" is and wider flares. Something to consider...

:(

Well I guess if that is true, that makes my decision easy

According to what? All I've been doing is configuring 4dr BL since B&P. The manual only goes away if you select Sasquatch.

or if you go non-Sasquatch but opt for the 2.7.

You are correct. Never considered anything but a 2.7...

So if a 4dr BL with a 2.3 and Manual is an option, then the next question.....
Will the 2.3 be enough for the 4dr?

Stick with the manual... the 6.58 crawler gear, 3.06 t-case, and 4.7 rear will be perfect (if not better than the current squatch).

The 2.3 will be fine for a daily driver and if your want more power you can tune it. If the ‘22 mansquatch comes out with 4.7 final drive ratio and the 2.7. Trade yours in for that. ;)

Agreed, 270hp and 310#ft of torque is going to be plenty to turn the 33’s. The 4.7 diffs in the Badlands should give the 2.3 a little extra kick relative to the other trim levels as well.

I just sent my dealer a build PDF of my non Sasquatch 4 door BL with the standard transmission , MGV and the high package because I wanted the 12 inch screen. I think its pretty uncommon but it will suit me. Get what you want. I love your build.

I believe my build will be the same... just add the MIC roof and tow (and probably the roof rack - cus I don’t know when after markets will be available)

I’m getting a 4-door BL with the 2.3 and 7-speed and high pkg. comparing to the new Jeep’s with the 4 cylinder turbo the Bronco has better numbers and should be fine. It will not set any land speed records but it will be enough to get the job done.

Actually I have the MIC roof also. Mine will be cyber orange. Let me know what color yours is so I don't accidentally hop into the wrong vehicle some day. Haha.

Personally wouldn't want to rely on a low displacement 4 cylinder for a Sasquatched 4 door. Almost the maximum workload on the smallest engine option. I also am daily driving and married with a little one on the way, and am committed to a manual transmission, but I'm going with the 2 door. Super minor inconvenience putting a baby in a test facing seat in a2 door. The masses have over exaggerated the inconvenience. It's like dissing dvd players over streaming since you have to get up off the couch, change out the dvd, put the old dvd in it's original case, and put it back. Good grief the bellyaching these days. I know 2/3rds of reservations dig the 4 door but it looks like a lifted flex to me, and that is a horrid ugly looking car. Gotta determine what your most important features are and either settle or walk away. I'd love to have a manual with the 2.7, Sasquatch, lightning blue, and so on and so on but I'll have to settle for the 2 door Badlands Sasquatched manual 2.3 because that's closest to checkmarking my important needs and the most wants that I can still afford.

What you put the old DVD back in its case, and don’t just throw it in the new empty case? That’s the fun part you think you are going to be watching Forrest Gump but you get Christmas Vacation. I’m a little farther along than you, I have two teenage boys and two Great Danes I need the extra room the Lifted Flex will give me. I have a 2door cobalt right now and getting the boys in and out of the back seat is a major pain when I have to take that car. Plus we are down sizing from a Suburban. Don’t need to shock the system.
