Brought my 22 Outerbanks(21,500 miles) to my Ford dealer for the works and one of recalls last week. Service told me all of the wheel lug nuts had to be placed because of an issue with the chrome caps, over the factory nuts. They said they can replace them all for $200, with the same type lug nuts that had the problem. They had already removed the wheels for rotation and said those new lug nuts were all they had to put back on. I asked if the new nuts were the same, wouldn't I have the same issue at some point? They advised yes, probably will be an issue in a few years, and it's an ongoing issue with these types of OEM nuts.
Well, I had to have the tires put on, and paid for the new nuts. I checked online when I was home and found replacement OEM lug nuts for MUCH cheaper. I contacted the dealership with that info, with no response from Wareham MA Ford. I know I was ripped off and will not be going back to that dealership. Any other owners or Ford reps aware of any issues like this?
Thanks,
