Locked keys in Bronco

Was washing and waxing my Bronco in the driveway. I had left the keys in center console where the phone mag charger is located. When I went to open the driver's side door, I found that the door was locked. Checked the rest of the doors all were locked. Since I was home was not a big issue went and got the spare key. Also, could have used the Ford app. Just got me to thinking had I been away from home I would have been locked out of my bronco. Has anyone experienced this situation? Usually if the key fob is in the vehicle, I can't remember a time when I have ever been locked out of any vehicle I have owned. The key fob does have a protective cover which I guess could be the issue.

Never happened but if it did, i would just take the window out of the soft top to get in.

Do you have the Ford Pass App? You can unlock your Bronco from there.

Edit:

I see you have the App. I also keep a spare Fob in a Faraday pouch hidden in my Bronco.

I lock my keys inside all the time. I use the keypad or app to open it. It’s a great feature when out on the water! (sometimes I lock my phone in there too)

I guess I need to make it a habit, to take my keys and phone out of the vehicle when I stop for gas. Hate to stop for gas and get locked out of the vehicle. A quick pit stop might turn in to a longer stop. Will have to look into one of those Faraday Pouch for Car Keys.

I love the Ford Key Pad I have been a fan since my moms 1987 Grand Marquis. I need to add one to my Bronco, I just keep forgetting about it.
But that story reminds me of the last time I locked my keys in my car. I had a 1994 Camaro it had power windows but manual locks, I always made it a habit as I was opening the door I would lock the car so when I closed it it was locked. well one day on my way to my girlfriends (now my wife) house I stopped to wash the car off so I left it running jumped out and by habit locked the car. luckily I was only 3 miles from home and there was a payphone at the car wash so I had my dad bring me the extra key.

I haven't done it yet,but I have Ford Pass.
My 97 F250....I was warming it up so I took the key fob with me and found out the fob doesn't work if it's running. It was good and warm when I got it open

I never leave my FOB or keys in the truck. Never had the problem. Remember you can use duct tape on the window and pull it down. I would assume with no window frame it's pretty easy to get the ole coat hanger out.

Yep sure did, happened to me at my local car wash, they were temporarily closed for lunch, 11:30 - 12:00. I was first in line left the key fob in the center console I got out closed the drivers door and proceeded to walk to the office to pay, needless to say the guys stopped me, they couldn’t open any of the doors to do the vacuuming part. So I had to go onto the app to unlock the doors thankfully.
