I bought a ‘22 Outer Banks with the plan of adding my 35x12.5 18’s Ive already ordered. With a lift or level ( 1-2”) what wheel offset should I get, to give me some poke, with only mod being removing crash bars? I won’t be doing major off-roading or rock crawling. This is basically just for the look but also want it to be functional if I do hit rougher country. For ref, I’m planning on buying 18x9 (offset??) wheels

I believe your current wheels have a off set of +55. Any thing less will push them out farther. It’s really just a personal preference on what you like. I went -10 on a Badlands with Sasquatch and it pokes out 1/2” past the flares.

Great feedback. Thanks buddy!

I think the sas wheels are +30 in order to have enough backspace for the 315 tire width. I’ve seen some with +18 and 0 that look pretty good.
Depends how much poke ya likes!

Here is a shot of my 18x9 with 20mm offset with 275 Nitto Terra Grapps. The Nittos roll in slightly and to me it is perfect. If it were more of a square sidewall I would definitely be outside the flare.

Thanks for the pic. That helps

Yeah you need at least +30 offset or you may rub at full turn. The stock +55 offset wheels probably won’t be sufficient for a 12.5”-wide tire.

Not sure if you are just going to put in some spacers or if you intend to get new wheels. But if you intend to get new wheels you may have to consider 17“ instead of 18”.. 17” is WAY more common, so you have many more options available to you, particularly if you are looking at getting +0 or +21 offset.

The downside with all of this is you’ll be poking out beyond the fender, so your pain may get beat up with rock chips and whatnot. So may want to consider replacing the fenders with wider versions and/or some paint protection film.

I’ve already bought tires that fit 18’s. My original plan was to temporarily put them on my stock wheels but didn’t realize the stocks are only 7” wide. Oh well. I’m saving up for the Fuel Beast 18x9. And yes, I do plan on ordering the larger fenders. I do want quite a bit of poke. From earlier feedback, with my measurements, 0 offset should give me some poke. Just trying to nail down exactly what I need. Should I go with something like -6 to make sure I get the look I want. With it lifted, crash bars removed, I’m thinking that won’t rub? Thanks for the reply. I appreciate it

You probably just want the answer, but if your wheels have +55mm offset, that's a little over two inches. If you go with 0mm offset, that means you're moving the wheel two plus inches outward. If you increase the wheel width from 7" to 9" that's another one inch that the wheel will "poke" (one inch on each side of center). So, it looks like you're going to move the wheel edge out by about three inches by moving to a 0mm offset and wider wheel. I think that's a Florida look if that's what you're going for.

I attached a picture of what -10 off set looks like on a Badlands Sas. It’s always a hard choice on wheels. I am very happy with the -10 for me it pushes the body away from trees and rocks on the trails in the Sierra Nevadas. Oh my bad, I didn't realize you were going for the poke look. I know it's fairly popular down south, but people avoid that look at all costs here in northeast. And folks with the Outer Banks trim usually skip on it because swapping out the fenders means they lose the trim-exclusive painted fenders. Interesting how different looks are popular in different areas of the country.

But anyway... if you want that poke look, then sky is the limit. Just depends how much of a poke you want. The stock tires are just over 10 inches wide. So going from the stock wheel/tire combo to a 35x12.5 tire with a 0 offset wheel will effectively make your tire poke out ~3.5" inches farther than the stock configuration.

Awesome feedback. Thanks! Seems like I’d get a little too much poke with negative offset. I can get the look I want with positive offset, since tires and wheels are wider than factory. Good to know! Basically all I want is to obviously see poke, looking at the bronco straight on.

Any advice on where to sell my factory rims/tires? I know I won’t get what they are actually worth, but a decent deal

Yeah definitely different region to region. I live in north Florida. My off roading will strictly be mudding if anything lol. I owned ‘77 at one point (wish I still had it), so this bronco is basically for nostalgia reasons.I got a 2 door because it looks more classic. Didn’t get the SAS because I wanted to build it myself. Long story short, it’s 90% about the look for me. And yes, you’re right about the Outer Banks choice. I’m going to get custom painted fenders to match my body color. It’s all a slow work in process. But first step is to replace these silly little tires lol. Driving me nuts!

Vote for I like it. I don’t like excessive poke but just a little like that looks great!

This math should work. You may need to change some of the numbers to match your before and after…

let’s say you want 3” more poke than what you have now. 3” is 75mm (or close enough)

current setup.+55 offset, 275 width.

new setup
315 tires. So these are 40mm wider, so 20mm on each side of the wheel.

wheels, +0 offset will move you out 55mm to get to your total 75mm of poke.
