oh, this thread isn't going to go well considering there is another one where the OP of that thread got mad and insulted everyone that disagreed with his opinion. I am sure he will make his way in here. Here's hoping it's a constructive thread, but anyways there is really isn't much comparison. One is a luxury vehicle that will never see a dirt road and one is made for being off road. It is 2 totally different vehicles.

I did not know all that. I did not see any squabbles. This is intended to just be good clean fun. I suppose if this gets sideways there are moderators.

Yeah as soon as I saw the 550 post all I could think of is when Top Gear did a feature a few years back comparing luxury and exotic "off roaders" and how they couldn't do the most basic of 4x4 tasks. A large percentage of Broncos will likely never see dirt either but atleast they are capable.

Top gear isn't the only bunch of loonies.People would not believe where my buddy and I would go with a 1972 Subaru station wagon.

yeah, I watched a TFL breakdown on it. Recovery points in the front are too far back, most likely if have to pull more upward the bumper is coming off. Tires look too small for any serious offroading without a huge lift. You might in 5-10 years see used ones on the trails.

The Bronco is designed to a broader based market. Its trim levels start at a bare bones Base model for off-road purists to build a rig from, up to a near-luxury Raptor model. It offers both a 2-door body and 4-door body configuration with a standard soft top or an optional hard top. It offers three engine choices and two transmission choices. It offers 4-levels of suspension and two levels of brakes. It offers tire choices from 30" to 37". It offers 3-levels of electronics integration and 3-levels of seat trim. So, it can viewed as Ford has done an incredible job of offering a vehicle to a far broader spectrum of buyers while offering affordable pricing at each trim level.

From the information presented so far for the GX, it offers just 4-doors, 33" tires, a single suspension design, a single engine and transmission choice, with trims that just up-level the luxury continent. And maybe a hybrid drivetrain in the future.

Never did that but my first car was a crown vic and that thing took everything in stride, there's a reason the Police loved them. They may not be the coolest cars but they were all in all the best built cars ever.

Me neither. Hence this one.
They put me on Double-Secret Suspension for a month.

Here's a long video of a Bronco doing a Colorado trail with a GMC EV Hummer. The Hummer could not compete, and needed the Bronco for recovery several times. I expect the Lexus GX-550 to do better, but not by much.
My expectation is that the GX-550, being a new iteration of the Toyota Land Cruiser (a very heavy, big V-8 luxury soccer-mom SUV) will wind up as a 1) status mall crawler, 2) a reasonably good trailer and boat hauler, and 3) an adequate dirt-road (not off-road) cruiser, enough so that its owners can chat about their "off-road & roughing it" trip as they swish their chardonnay.

Had a couple of them-take home cars. Mine for 65000 miles. First one marginal, second one rocked...

At the $80K price point, the Braptor is way effing cooler than some boring mall-crawling Lexus Luxo'Ute.

IMO of course 😂
