Learned a lesson about highway driving with no doors/roof today.

I had a quilt my grandmother made for me in the back seat, and it blew out the top onto the highway. I'll go back and try to get it, but I do have a couple questions about door/roofless aerodynamics:

  1. Is there a sheltered part of the vehicle at all (the trunk?) or should things just be tied down or heavy no matter where they are? I was considering getting a big ass duffel bag and putting anything I need in that.
  2. I noticed my rubber floor mat on the passenger side waving in the wind quite a bit. It only has a single snap in to the carpeted floor. Is this an accident waiting to happen? Should I remove floor mats when driving like this? The rear ones (this is a 2-Door) have zero snap ins, but I figure they are relatively sheltered back there, however I assume I know nothing at this point. I would not like to be the cause of someone else's accident, or just lose these things at high speed!

Thanks y'all; have a great weekend!

I have a 2 door also. Haven't had the whole top nor doors off yet but just the front panels being off creates quite a stir on the freeway. I got this. Also works as a secure trunk for when I want everything off and want park it. Another great feature is it creates a shelf adding storage options the limited spaced 2 door needs.

Really?!?! I haven’t had the top and doors off the Bronco yet but the Mustang is great!! I am a sun lover so that might help! A good hat, sunglasses and hair ties are a must though! I can’t wait to go topless and doorless this summer!! I’ve been waiting years for this!!
Yes!! Me too, anytime the weather is 70 or above the top goes back, at least partially, I love it. Definitely have to make sure there is nothing back there though. I really want to get the hammock to put up there, lake, beach, camping days. Can't wait.

I just about lost my rear Ford mat with the doors off, I 3d printed this. If you have the iag rear cup holders that should also help.
That is a great idea.
