I have a Big Bend 4 door 2.3 manual transmission. From Cleveland Ohio to Key West Florida we averaged 19.3 MPG. I'd say 60% Eco and 40% sport mode. Great trip, I did have the break light come on 3 times on the way down. Let me know if anyone has had that happen to them. I stoped at Gator Ford. Off of rt 4. By Tampa on Saturday and asked them if they could check it to see if it was a major issue. They said the only thing they could do is make an apointment for Monday. I said Great can we get a car to drive? He said they don't have one and the rental car places closed already. Then he ask so do you want me to make an appointment for Monday? I said again we are from Ohio! Where do you want me to go, can we stay the weekend at the dealership? He said no I said we'll there's your answer on the appointment! Other than that the trip and the Bronco have been great!!

Yeah, that is a long drive but its so beautiful down there. Do you have the 2.7? I would say that 19.3 isn't too bad considering you're going 85mph according to your picture. :ROFLMAO:
Thanks for sharing the pictures. Hopefully the brake issue is an easy fix.

Nice trip. How does the sport and Eco modes work with the manual transmission? And did you ever find out why it was throwing the check brake light?

No light from Naples to Key West. The modes change the rpm's and shift points. Same as automatic

I think I speak for several when I say:
‍♂️

How can it change shift points in a manual? Isn’t that what you do? Does it have a shift light or something? My sisters Jeep had one of those and she never understood why or how I ignored it

I was just getting ready to ask the same question.

Ok this might help I was thinking auto it's been a while with for a manual transmission.

It adjusts the shift pattern to favour higher revs (ie the road speeds at which it shifts up into/down out of each gear are raised), thus better responsiveness to the throttle and more instantaneous power, instead of the more normal economic, lower revving regime. It’s also often said to be better for driving in hilly regions as it won’t “hunt” around gears as much when climbing (it’ll just stay in the lower gear it would otherwise drop in and out of, which isn’t as wasteful a thing as you’d think if the engine is actually under enough load that it can’t make enough power in high gear much of the time), and gives better engine braking on descents.
In some cases it even changes where the shift points are for full throttle and kickdown, though notionally it shouldn’t. The idea is more meant to be that if you suddenly give the engine more gas, the response should be faster as it won’t have to change down as gear to rev up and deliver best power as often as it would in economy cruise mode… and you don’t get that slight lag followed by a lurch as its simplistic little brain goes “oh hey… full throttle… maybe even a kickdown… nnnnghhh, guess I’d better drop a gear or two and get the engine spinning faster…

This describes how it works with an auto transmission. You said you had a manual transmission and we are asking how it changes the shift points in a manual transmission.

He's obviously got an automatic, or is confused about how a manual works.

I might be confused, please tell me how a manual works with the different modes. That's how I thought it worked.

How does sport mode change the shift points with a manual transmission? You are manually changing what gear its in.

You are manually changing what gear its when you put into sport mode from normal or even Eco mode.

The rpm's change. So the shift time will change on your end. The shifting changes because your either shifting earlier or later depending on your modes. When I'm heading down the highway and shift from eco to sport I can feel the change and see it in the rpms. I feel more power. Going from sport to eco I feel the engine power drop. There fore the rpm's drop. Does that make sense, I guess I'm having a hard time explaining it. Lol

From eco to sport the throttle becomes more aggressive, steering tights up and the grill air dam opens up. You can definitely feel and see the change. Has so much more power in sport. Also going into sport mode turns off your auto start stop in all modes above and including sport. Let me know if this helps.

Yes this helps.
is there a Rev limiter or something in Eco mode?
