Anyone else watch the "reveal" video? What do you think, Bronco killer, BroncoR killer, or just another Jeep model? It looks like the Jeep engineers looked at the Bronco specs and one-upped them in several ways. Marketing gimmicks, or is Jeep playing hardball? What's your favorite aspect of the Jeep and does it make you wonder if waiting for the Bronco is worth it (Jeep says they've already started production and Rubicon 392s will be available first quarter)?

Personally, I'd consider the Rubicon 392 if it was priced competitively, but I think it'll just be a $10k option that doesn't add a lot of real off road value. The additional power isn't really where it's at for me, but it probably would be interesting to at least a few folks????

The Rubicon 392 is not expected delivery until the spring 0f 2021, so similar to the Bronco. I would think Jeep would want to introduce a new generation for 2022. I would think moving the mirrors and a larger console monitor would be easy changes for Jeep to be more competitive with the new Bronco.

They've announced a January 2021 delivery; although, I assume it's late January.

It's got a lot of power and it's going to handle like a Jeep Wrangler with a solid front axle at high speeds or on road. It's an attention getter. They will sell every one they can make. At a starting price of $67,000 it's not going to be for everyone and it's not meant to be.

The only thing about this jeep that I would get excited over is the sweet music coming out the exhaust pipe.

Not the half-doors, the increased ground clearance, crawl ratio, fording depth, power? It seems the Jeep Rubicon 392 bests the Bronco in almost all ways, at least on paper?

The appropriate response from ford would be to drop the 6.8 in the Bronco.

Yeah, it has some advantages but at the end of it all, it's still a jeep. I would think this would be more compared to the Warthog or at least what we think the Warthog will be.
I hope it keeps pushing Ford to keep improving.

I will be honest, I like the idea of the V8, love that sound and it does make me wish Ford would consider the 5.0 in the Bronco as well. However, for what these rigs are designed for that much power is unnecessary as gearing is what really matters. Other than power, I did not see where the Jeep bests the Bronco in any off road performance areas and this appears to be an attempt to combat Ford's all new 4x4 by dropping a huge motor in the old news Jeep.

For those who are die hard Jeep fans then this is awesome news. I am and always will be a Bronco guy and I either purchase a new Bronc or drive my 96. Count me in still for my Sasquatch Bronc!

PS...If I wanted to blow through the quarter mile then I would buy a sports car! :p

I agree, I'd sell your house to buy one. :ROFLMAO:
Word is the 7.3 is going to be available as crate motor. The 6.8 if made available would open the doors for a lot of 50 state legal turn key power packages. They are talking about putting it in the Mustang,

As much as I loved the 5.0 in my Mustang, I think the 6.8 would suit the Bronco much better. The engine is narrower and I believe it would produce a lot more torque in the lower RPM bands than the 5.0.

The 6.8 has me conflicted. Mustang or Bronco.

The Bronco already has the equivalent of the half doors since it has frameless windows to begin with. When you put the windows down in the Bronco you already have the same effect.

I will say I enjoyed Jeep's virtual release event and thought they did a nice job. They certainly have an impressive heritage and diehard fan base. This is awesome news if you're a Jeep fan and I am excited for them. I think it boils down to are you a Jeep or Bronc fan? Although it seems like Ford's release had Jeep worried some customers would jump ship. This is actually good news as will provide continued competition between the two and possibly push Ford to bring out the V8.

I agree with my BN friends...bring out the 6.8 Warthog and let the games begin!! (y)

I really think it’s good competition and everyone who is upset about now V8 in the Bronco can go buy one. I’d be waaaayyyyy more excited for a 3.5EB in a Bronco, like the Bronco R. This many people getting into turbo’ed motors at the same time will change a lot of minds.
The old saying “there is no replacement for displacement” has been up-ended with forced induction.
