So I took the doors off and roof off and went out to the desert for some fun! Now I have to face the dilemma of cleaning the dust out… (totally worth it)

The one thing I am noticing is that the knobs for volume and tuning the radio have dirt behind them. What’s the best way to clean out behind the knobs?

Any advice would be great! I have detailed a lot of vehicles but haven’t done this yet.

I would start with air. Either compressed or suction. Then move to a small paint brush. Then damp cloth . You don’t have to use them all if the air works stop there.

Yeah, we use our air compressor to blow all the dirt/sand out 1st. The soft brush is a good idea on the dials. I find the sponge paint brushes are good for vents and nooks and crannies. I'm in the desert too and live on a dirt road.

I would rather clean the dust than this mud.

Man I’ve had to set the ole sprinkler under the truck and let it run for a half hour or so your really just dissolving the mud at that point.

I live in desert too. But also lived all over. Dust and sand is least fun to clean, especially interior.

Mud is fun to clean sometimes just blast it off with a good pressure washer lol.

One extra dust/sand removal method beyond compressed air and toothbrush is buy a set of tiny micro tools that attach to shop vac. Will help a lot.

Pipe cleaners? No, and that's I have no clue personally, mud is the anti dust, and that's what I deal with. Back in the day, you could just pull the knobs off...

Not me.! Dust gets to places you'll never clean out.! Mud only goes where you can see it. Gimme mud over dust any day.!

You might want to go to a camera store or use the below link to BH Photo and purchase a lense cleaning brush. The long bristles will easily clean behind the knobs. Hope that helps.
