Inner tie rod

Anyone actually blown an inner tie rod while wheeling? I've seen it on YT, but it usually involved big tires and dubious steering inputs. I've thought about having one as a spare in the field.

Wherever you go, there you are!

You've hit the nail on the head re: big tires and bad steering but another common factor is front locker use (for those who have it)

It's always a good idea to carry extra tie rods when out wheelin' especially if you are still stock.

IMO, Ford made the tie rods as the 1st point of failure to protect the ridiculously thin stock steering end cap. The tie rods will fail before damaging the ridiculously thin rack.

People who use BroncBuster, or other tie rod type braces / sleeves, are setting themselves up for massive failure on the trail. A busted tie rod is much easier to fix than a busted rack..

I addressed the tie rods and rack pretty early on by adding a 74Weld Stage 1 steering rack end cap kit and Icon XD tie rods.

I hardly ever use the front locker but still wanted to make sure I was solid since I go out solo wheeling 99% of the time.

Here is the stock rack end cap next to the 74Weld when I replaced mine. Look at how thin the stock end cap is.. YIKES!

Next let's look at the stock tie rod. Again, embarrassingly thin.
