Iconic Silver Wildtrak Vs Cactus Gray First Edition Can't Decide

As we swing into the new year I'm torn between ordering a Wildtrak in Iconic Silver or a Cactus Gray FE. For me a Iconic Silver Bronco is my dream vehicle, but unfortunately the First Edition doesn't come in this color so I would have to move to a Wildtak to get one. I went to the dealer last week to check out Cactus Gray. Great color and really like it, but it's second on my list compared to Iconic Silver. With the Wildtrak I get my favorite color IS and my favorite interior which is the Sandstone/Black Leather. With the FE I get my second favorite color CG and my third favorite interior Black. I would be loading up the Wildtrak so price would be close to the FE. Knowing that only 7000 FE's will be built means it will be a very rare bronco and I would love to have one, but is it worth giving up my favorite dream build which is Iconis Silver over Sandstone interior. So do I go with my favorite colors and get the Wildtrak or go with my favorite model and limited production FE.

This is a tough one. I think it really depends on how much you really value the designation of being First Edition. It seems everything you want except the title is on the Wildtrak. I've had special editions Mustangs such as the '95 Cobra R and the '12 Boss LS and loved both of them for what they were but also the exclusivity too. Loved going to the track as well as the occasional car show with them.

The Mustangs had actual physical component (engine/suspension) differences, but what really makes the FE special? Only you can determine if having the FE title is #1 on your want list.
Everyone has different priorities and if having a FE is the top of the priority list for someone, who are we to judge. Get what makes you happy.

Damn, that Wildtrak looks HOT in iconic silver and decaled up! That is actually making me like the 4 door - and those black wheels!

The FE badge is just bragging rights. They'll both feel the same behind the wheel. I would go with whatever will bring you the most joy when your chillin' by the garage, eyeballin' it at every angle while tipping back a couple beers. I WISH I could nail down a color I'm in love with, as you have. All these months and I still can't decide what to get.

Vintage this is a tough one. But my gut is telling me you'll be happier in the end with the Wildtrak. The way you built it has me starry eyed

@vintage, do you anticipate really aggressive off roading including rock crawling? If so, you probably want to consider the FE with the sway bar disconnect and rock crawl GOAT mode vs the Wildtrak's sport mode. However if your use case is more onroad or more general offroading, it sounds like the Wildtrak is your vehicle.

If you are sitting in that beautiful IS Wildtrak enveloped in that black/sandstone interior and you see a cactus grey FE cross in front of you, are you really going to have that much lust for it? The FE is a very cool limited edition, but they aren't THAT limited. With 7000 produced, they aren't going to be unicorns in the sea of Broncos.

From the way you wrote it up, it sounds to me like if the situation is reversed and you are sitting in a Cactus Grey FE with black interior, and you see an IS Wildtrak drive by, you are going to get a significantly higher rise on the "lust-ometer".

Ultimately you can't go wrong either way!

And by the way, I'm glad to see Iconic Silver getting some love! Haven't seen too many people talk about that color.

Do you anticipate getting another Bronco in the future? One way to look at it is get the FE and in a few years get whatever edition has all of the things you want (plus hopefully any issues are worked out and extra options are available). There may be an advantage to having an FE in that scenario. Either way, you can't go wrong.

If you are planning on keeping the vehicle forever, I say go with the wildtrak because of the color and the interior options you said you love. If you are wanting to resell the vehicle eventually I say go with the FE because of resale value. And if you sell the FE in a few years you can always get another wildtrak in IS. If you are planning on keeping the vehicle for a long time, get exactly what you want. Don't settle for a special edition if the colors and options aren't exactly what you want.

Great focus on use case tlowell01. One other thing that I thought about is factory tow package as it looks like this will be 4 door. My understanding is that FE 4 door will not have the factory tow package available either.

I really like the Iconic Silver in the shots I have seen. If we were not already in the gray scale with our other vehicles I would be looking that direction as well.

In the end I think the group have really touched on the key factors in your overall prefrences. If you are spending that much money, get what you like and don't wory about exclusivity. If they come out and make the FEs the only MY21 models and the rest MY22 you may have something with the FE. Other than that, the heart wants what the heart wants!

Selecting a color has been my biggest issue. I never want to think down the road...."I wish I would have went with a different color". I nailed the trim package on day 1 and never thought about changing it.

There is NOTHING special about the FE. It is a fully loaded Bronco with FE decals. I can add any feature of the FE build to my build and have the same vehicle minus the decals. If you were thinking resale value of it because its a FE, they are making 7,000 of them. Maybe it will hold a little better value?

It comes down to you having regrets for not getting a color you love or regrets for not getting the FE.

Myself..…..I'm going with a color I will fall in love with. Just wish I knew what that color was.  :ROFLMAO:

I'm with you @SlashRacer! Exterior color is really the only thing I haven't had locked down since day 1. I'm jealous of @vintage having identified his dream color!

I am awaiting one or two more FE options to be released. I agree that it is "just" a loaded Bronco with FE decals. I believe/hope something else is announced - they did change the interior and add a unique color. There is a $2-3K mark up, so I am expecting some special announcement in the coming months.

Color was the first thing I knew, Cyber Orange. Just wish I knew what top was going to work best for me. Removable side windows is sure to be fun with AM and the rear cargo hatch is unique enough to give a top off feel without having to take that top off.

Agree, I'm hoping for a special Black interior and a few extra features to get me excited on the FE, but I feel like the Black interior option is just going to be a Badlands black leather with a different color stitching. Don't get me wrong I like black interiors but already own a Rubicon and 4Runner both with black interiors. I guess thats why I'm drawn to the Sandstone/Black in the Wildtrak, plus I like the old school two tone vibe it gives off. I appreciate all the feedback you guys are giving me, it's definitely going to come down to the wire on making a decision. Just to give everyone a reference, this is the pic that shot Iconic Silver to the top of my dream Bronco list. I'm hoping to find my own cover bridges to roll my Bronco across.
