IAG 4 Door Running Boards

Has anyone else added these to their 4 door? IF so are they rusting? I have had mine on for about 5-6 months, unfortunately I travel a lot so don't drive as much as I would like, only have 3500 miles on it and the boards are rusted real bad. Basically every weld spot, every bend is rusting, they look absolutely terrible.

Have you registered on bronco6g.com? IAG is a paid sponsor over there. Post this issue on that site--they've been pretty upfront about answering posts & complaints.
They've delivered the long steps for my 4door, and I was planning on installing them New Years Day.
I gather you've ordered the long steps, not the shorter ones that position right under the doors. 2Dr, or 4Dr? Is your area salted heavily? Michigan, so I suppose so. Hopefully, there's a simple solution, some wirebrushing and black exterior spray paint?
Posting images would help.

Bummer, bummer, bummer. Sorry for the disappointment. I bought a few things from IAG and I was looking at buying the running boards next. I live in New England so salt on the roads is a norm for winter. Keep us posted as to how you make out with IAG. Good luck 🤞! I checked IAG's product description of the steps and quote "The textured black powder coat on the EZ-Step prevents slippage and adds a unique look to the exterior of the vehicle.". Hmmm.. poor surface prep is all I can think of.

I wandered and got lost, again.

I wondered whether or not these steps/boards would hold up to rust belt winters. They have what I consider to be the best price point of all of these type of products i.e. the fairest price. Most other companies are WAY overcharging for this kind of product (again, IMHO). Having said that, for 3 to $400 these things should last years before they rust, not a single year. Aftermarket products truly are hit and miss with regard to quality.

I have the steps from IAG. I'll have to look but I don't think there's any rust. I've had them since March. And our roads get plenty of chemicals. I do wash my Bronco a lot to try and reduce the damage.

I did see a little discoloration on your steps, @Sdakotabronco but it could simply be mud. Not blistering or peeling. I wonder, without knowing anything about this particular product, I would have to assume that they're powder coated from the factory, and "should" hold up to some harsh use and to the raw elements. Nice looking steps, though. The ones that remove from the rock rails are a clever and sporty addition.

Yeah I noticed that spot too and am not 100% sure it's mud. It's cold even in the garage so will look closer once I take it out again. Probably tomorrow. It needs a bath. I don't like it to sit too long with the crap they put on the roads.

I was the same way with my cars, growing up on Long Island. Don't get me wrong, I like the fact that this stuff helps keep the roads clear, but man is it invasive! It gets everywhere.

I received my IAG full length EZ steps a couple of weeks ago and they were slightly damaged. Between the UPS gorillas and less than stellar packaging the brackets at both ends were hitting metal to metal. Two of the fixed brackets had areas down to bare metal. They have been returned and replacements should arrive by Friday. Of course there will be delays due to weather. I have never seen powder coating come off like this.it wasn’t chips, it was flaking.

I have the same steps and no issues. I’ve had them on since Sept with about 3k miles. I live in warm weather but at the beach so I wash her regularly.

I’ve had the running boards since early summer.
I haven’t had any issues.
But in all honesty, I have very few miles on it , since I’ve had it so far.
Like someone else said,
They have a fair price point and a great on / off modular design.
Powder coating is a great finish when done properly, but it’s not and never will be a bulletproof finish.
I have no doubt that the bottoms of the rails will take an absolute beating from gravel and stones.
I actually plan on putting another layer of rubberized undercoating on the bottom side.
As for the tops , they should hold up several years before a rub thru or flaking issue would start.
I can only assume that if there is a failure in the powder coating, it would be from the bare metal prep / a lack of millage or the product not being properly mixed (as in no foreign materials) before application.
But like someone else said…
A proper clean pic of the failure would identify the problem.
Powder coating itself “should” hold up to winter road chemicals.

I had this issue with my IAG EZ Steps (V2 4-Door). Started rusting after about 300 miles! The customer service was great, though. I let them know of the issue and they stated they had some issues of original versions of their products and would do a full replacement, which they did right away. The replacement steps I received were a completely different version - new coating and design (different weld spots). So far I have had no issue with the newer/current version. They are not as coarse as the original and are easier to clean as well. Again, so far the replacements are great. In time if these start to rust, I will let them know and move onto a different company.

Sorry to hear. I'm sure it's very frustrating. It would be easier to understand if these steps were only $100 a set. Then I might be OK with refinishing them myself. I think the only option is to spend more to get a product with better support and warranty. Rock....YOU.... hard place. As much as I'd like to get a set of steps, there's no way that I'm prepared to pay $300 only to receive a sub-par product.

I wish they were only $300.

here are some close up pictures of mine. I looked back and actually put around 2,000 miles on since I installed them. I travel a lot as stated and unfortunately don't get to drive as much as I would like. I live in Michigan, however first time it was in snow was last weekend so it is not snow and salt issue.

Well, this one didn't age well at all. New steps are now starting to rust. Pictures attached. About 3-weeks into the 2nd set and just a few hundred miles. I really like the style and design, too.
