To the best of my knowledge this is the first time this has ever happened to me in my almost 30 years of driving. I was on the hwy, going about 55-60ish & I saw a piece of gravel shoot out from under the front of the bronco & hit the pavement, It bounced up, and then I caught up with it. It hit the windshield but It doesn't appear to have left a knick thank goodness. Luckily it was a small pebble and not one of the #57 from the driveway. Pretty sure it's the first time I've thrown a rock at my own windshield.

Was it launched from the Goodyear rock slingers?

I dunno, I wasn't running premium so probably just a hair under Mach 1. ๐Ÿ˜

You know it. I'm ready to get rid of them.

This incident has now raised their rock slinging ability to legendary status! ๐Ÿ˜‚

You must have some crazy good vision... if I'm doing 55-60, I'm not going to notice a rock bounce out in front my Bronco, flip up and then land on my windshield. Granted I'm mostly doing 80, all I ever get is the loud smack when a rock hits me and then see the crack it left.

I guess it just happened to be right in my field of vision. It came from the drivers side front tire.

I have it on good authority that Goodyear will soon be releasing a replacement for their infamous "rock slingers." They are developing a tire that would replace the existing ones on the Broncos. They are emphasizing Sasquatch-equipped Broncos in particular. The waffle is being reconfigured so it will not pick up and toss as many stones as it currently does.

I guess they got wind of the (legitimate) gripe that their current design is something of a menace to everyone on the road. By addressing this concern, they hope to attract (or in most cases, retain) customers who may consider alternatives like Nitto and BF Goodrich.
Chris here. I drive a 2-door Velocity Blue 2023 Ford Bronco Badlands with Sasquatch, Lux, a 2.7L V6, and an automatic transmission. Itโ€™s fun.

I'm picking up a set of nitto's this afternoon. I wasn't really on the hunt for new tires yet but, this is one of those can't pass it up deals. Hopefully someone will buy these goodyears at some point.

Goodyear 'Wrangler' Rant:

I've always found it odd that Goodyear still plasters the 'Wrangler' tag on most of their truck / off-road tires. IMO, they are limiting the marketability of their tires by doing this. Jeep Wranglers owners obviously won't have an issue with this but every other vehicle type might.

I've met Taco owners who passed on GY tires because of it, Bronco owners obviously won't like it etc.. I get it, GY made the 'Wrangler' omission for the Bronco tires but it's just the one tire and in one size.

For instance, I had Duratrac's on my previous JK and they were probably one of the best tires I've ever owned. If it not for the large 'Wrangler' branding on the tire I would have purchased them instantly for my Bronco..

While it's true that the GY 'Wrangler' brand has been around for longer than the Jeep Wrangler has, it would be nice if, lets say, one side of their 'Wrangler' tires had the large 'Wrangler' branding but it was omitted on the other side.

Maybe I am just weird.

I just got quoted $1500-2000 to replace my windshield after someone dropped a box of office supplies on the freeway and it was hit by the Camaro two car lengths in front of me. A giant desk ornament flew up and hit my windshield. And because I was doing about 80 I caught up with it and it hit my windshield again right above the first one. It looks like I took rounds from a road rage incident...lol...NOT.๐Ÿ˜’

That's why at 500 miles on the bronco I switched them out for some Cooper STT Pro's. Better tire and less rock slinging.
