I think I'm changing my color - And here is why

Most people here know I'm all about wanting a Grabber Blue Bronco. Who knows when and if that will happen. It's also probably well known that none of the current brighter or fun colors really grab me.

My current order is for Velocity Blue. Which I just like but don't love.

So yesterday I was thinking. And it just came to me. I might switch to Carbonized Gray. Here is my reasoning...

My mom passed away a few weeks after the Bronco reveal. She was in home hospice and bed ridden with pancreatic cancer. We were staying with her to care for her. Watching the Bronco reveal was the last thing we really did before she took a turn for the worse. Mom's name was Eleanor. So I was thinking about naming my Bronco Eleanor in memory of her. What else has the name Eleanor?? Yup you guessed it. And what color is that Eleanor?? Gray. Albeit pebble gray metallic.

First off, Sorry for your loss. Never easy to lose anyone. My mother passed away a few months before the reveal. We all have lost someone at some point, and each of us do something to keep a memory alive.

Secondly, your reasoning sounds perfect to me. Go for it!

Sorry for your loss! I lost my mom at the beginning of the year.

I picked Carbonized Grey as well.

My first car as a teenager was a used 1969 Mustang. It was painted Gun Smoke grey.

Thanks!! This was actually the first step in my healing and keeping her memory alive.

I think that would be an awesome way to pay tribute to your mother.

Personally... I love the carbonized gray color, and I would have gotten it on my Bronco. The only reason why I didn't is because I already have a Ford Focus in carbonized gray. If you take care of the paint it looks amazing. My Focus is a 2013 model (bought it new) and it has spent most of its life outside and the color has held up well. Admittedly it doesn't look as good as it should—I just haven't kept up with the care of the paint and it got beat up pretty badly by a fallen oak tree this past summer. But it's still a great color.

I think you have sterling gray metallic. I had a 2012 Focus Titanium in sterling gray metallic. Also had a 2007 F-150 in dark shadow gray metallic. I love gray. It's just become too common. But in this instance I'm not going to let that affect my decision.

Great story @Garemlin thanks for sharing - the loss of a loved one is always a difficult time and hopefully memorializing her via the best color available (CG) is not only a fitting tribute but a terrific canvas from which to create an awesome Bronco. I hope you receive it ASAP

Sorry for your loss. Cancer sucks, it really does.

I would say that is a great idea for the Bronco.

BTW bronze wheels look awesome with the grey... maybe I am a little bias though.

Thanks!!! Cool thing about neutral colors is you can accent them with just about anything. So I'm thinking some subtle grabber blue accents will quench my grabber blue thirst.

sorry about the loss of your mom - truly.

I love the idea and sentiment behind where you're going - but I think silver would be a closer color to the color on the Eleanor Mustang - and (in my opinion) looks amazing on the Bronco.. just a thought

Sorry for your loss, glad to see you're in the process of healing though.

Great choice on the color, should throw in some Eleanor traits there, like a custom side exhaust, one of these hoods... Just make a show quality truck or something to really commemorate that its for her, make it extra special! Wonder how much it'd cost to add some flake or whatever when they do the hood, flake up the whole body, make the paint custom?

Thank you

You know I thought about that. Some pics of Eleanor do look closer to silver. But some like this one are more gray.

If it was darker like Jeeps Billet Silver I might consider it. But good thought just the same.

Keeping your new girl right? Why not find a body or restoration shop, and come up with a custom color that works like that

If I'm being totally honest if I were looking to do a custom paint job it would be grabber blue. Mom would understand. LOL

Hood is a pretty good idea. The side exhaust probably wouldn't fair too well off roading.

True true, just trying to think how to make an Eleanor Bronco is all. Gotta be a way to take the look and blend it while still being a beast.

Sick color, I'm just if you're going custom, why not go all out:
