I got the crack

Pressed the horn to warn an inattentive driver that he was encroaching on my lane. The drivers airbag cover cracked. I noticed early on that the plastic interior trim
pieces are incredibly cheap, but this is absurd.

Has this been happening alot? I hardly ever use the horn. I had a vehicle for a long time where the horn didn't work so just got out of the habit.

I didn’t think so, until it happened to me. There is a thread on bronco6g. Seems to be not uncommon. I suppose warranty will cover it. The cover is designed to break on deployment of the airbag. I advise avoiding the center when you press on the horn.

I believe (hard to remember back that far), that I've had the crack since day one. Whether it was there from the moment I picked it up (it was late and dark) or happened the 1st time I slammed the horn (NJ drivers 😠 ), I don't know.

Good news is, after a year of ignoring it I finally had the dealership replace (entire airbag), and yes, it was covered under warranty.

I have it too and it should be a warranty item; it is becoming a well known issue to dealers.

To save you time here is the message you may get from @Ford Motor Company, “we are sorry to hear you are having this problem”…….send them a PM saying that you are sorry to be having this issue and that you know they don’t want you to have this issue so you are sending them all your info…. It may throw them off of their game! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I mashed on my horn the other day and I was surprised I didn’t crack mine. sorry to see

They better not sell any in Egypt they use the horn constantly. They don’t do it in anger like here they do it all the time when crossing intersections or just passing someone etc…

It's sad when a Bronco owner says they "got the crack", and you don't know if they're talking about the MIC top, the windshield, or something else.

Wow the first I have heard of this (seen it) was at the "wheeling for a cause" outing and there was a lady (sorry I am terrible at remembering names) with a 2door Cyber Orange Bronco that had the crack, she thought it was just the outline of where the cover would split and not an actual crack. did not know this was a common issue. I will keep looking to see if my Darryl develops the crack.

We got the cr... are in the club. I D]do not recall any angry horn honking episodes but have had wide but normal flatland to mountain temp variances. Have scheduled for Warranty Repair and will let folks know how it goes.

My I phone has a crack my I pad has a crack , but no crack on my Bronco yet. Maybe that Bronco on that steering wheel is kicking when your not looking and that caused the crack.

One honk to pass on left, two to pass on the right and a long honk mean get out of the way! Egypt traffic should be a required experience for every driver here. I certainly started driving differently after my first time there.

+1 for thread title I just couldn't ignore. 😆
This is a frustrating issue to have, but I gotta say I'd rather the steering wheel plastic crack too easily than the other way around and prevent proper airbag deployment. Still it's a BS issue to have considering the concept of an airbag cover on a steering wheel is not exactly new technology. 😒
