I finally took care of those unsightly pinch weld rocker panels.

On my recently purchased Outer Banks two-door, it came with the running boards but those unsightly pinch welds on the rocker panels were still fully visible which appeared to have unfinished rocker panels. Needless to say, I thought about making my own pinch weld covers but found some on the internet being offered by a couple different companies. I bought a set for $189 and finally got them installed the other day during the ice storms here in Dallas. The covers are now on sale at $160.)

The install was quite simple and took about 30 minutes per side. I had to remove the end caps from the front of the running boards to get at the front two bolts on each rocker panel that needed to be removed. Once the end caps were removed, the install was finished in a snap. The quality of the covers is very good, they fit perfectly and come powder coated in satin black. The covers were ordered from jcroffroad at this link:

Very nice! I was actually thinking about spraying mine with matte black plasti-dip, but this is nice!

Yah I know what you mean about Ford’s half- baked pinch welds. Can totally ruin the complete Bronco look.
Lucky I have the factory rock rails. They cover them nicely and a more solid/ rugged appearance. They may even deflect a couple of rocks. They look much better/bigger in person.
Highly recommended.

Great idea but rock rails do not fit if you have Ford running boards. It is an "either or" proposition. Since my Outer Banks came with factory running boards I decided to leave them on. They look fine to my eyes. The pinch welded rockers did not.

FYI factory rock rails cover these up and provide excellent protection. I know I bought and installed them, so easy like 10 minutes each side...

I get that you can’t have the rails and boards together. Just trying to help folks with nothing.

How about this armor? Probably could incorporate with running boards. They also make it for 4 dr models.
