How important is Sway bar disconnect? I have a friend who ordered Base 4dr with sasquatch. Pretty big big difference in msrp. The other part of the question is would a 2 dr base with sasquatch do a lot better without sway bar disconnect than the 4dr?

It really depends on how 'hardcore' they'll be off roading/rock crawling. There are plenty of other differences between a base with sasquatch and badlands besides the sway bar disconnect, such as the interior, wash out flooring, interior trim level options, skid plates, etc. Personally, I'm not into rock crawling, so the sway bar disconnect isn't a huge deal to me, even though I'm getting a badlands sasquatch package. My guess is, your friend will be fine without it

if rock crawling sway bar disconnect is almost a must have. At the offroadeo the difference was huge. went from being hung up on some rocks to easily getting over it.

Sway bar disconnect is very useful however, it doesn’t have to be automatic - Wranglers have been adding manual disconnects to sway bar links for decades. The convenience of pressing a button in the cabin is what I paid for in my Badlands.

If you need maximum flex, say for rocking crawling or extreme off-roading, then yes it makes a difference. But if it is only needed once in a while it can be done by hand. Electronic disconnect just makes life easier. Is it worth the extra cost?? That's the decision of the spender.

There are also quick disconnect sway bars that make manual disconnecting a little easier as well.

Does anyone know of a manual sway bar disconnect kit for the Bronco yet? I haven't seen one...

There is a guy on FB, YouTube and Instagram that has one in development. Last I saw he was getting them ready to ship.

Yup, and he hit on why you need a kit. You need some kind of bracket to hold the disconnected sway bar up. I have a Badlands, so it's not an issue for me, but I know plenty of people who need something like this for, for example, their Wildtrack.

Keeping your tires on the ground is key when four-wheelin, otherwise it's only three-wheelin, or two-wheelin. The anti-sway bar disconnect helps keep the rubber on the ground.

As I see it, you might as well run it all the time when you are off-road if you have the automatic connect/disconnect feature. Rather than hitting the hero button when you're stuck, just hit it when you start the trail and keep your tires on the ground under any circumstances. One less thing to worry about. Maybe I'm just channeling the old days with my Jeep. Back in the 90's when I was doing a lot of 4-wheeling once we hit dirt my procedure was:

1. Lock the hubs
2. Air down the tires
3. Disconnect the sway bar
4. Put it in 4 low

Old habits die hard...

If it's going to be a pavement princess then just skip the sasquatch package and get a base and toss on some wheels and tires. If interior is a big deal I dunno what to tell ya. I went base base with aux switches only. Probably won't have the best resale 20 years from now but I like simple and all those extra things are unnecessary if you ain't trailing it.

Agreed, if your Bronco is going to be a Mall Queen, then you don't need ANY of that "stuff" that comes on the Badlands.

No doubt! Everyone has their own needs/wants. While the Bronco is advertised (and designed) as "off-road ready", that doesn't mean that you have to take it off-road.

Sway bar should be disconnected at pretty much every trail head. Up to you whether you want to push a button or get under the vehicle and use a wrench. Otherwise there is the quick disconnect mentioned in this thread and there should be many more available in the future. People who say it's only for rock crawling or "hardcore" off-roading are misinformed.

Agreed. It just makes everything smoother, better flow. Automatically reconnects when speed gets too high, it’s a win-win.

Oh, did I mention LOCK THE HUBS ... *chuckle* can't count the number of times I forgot that and wondered what was wrong with my Jeep.

BTW, I agree that you should just go ahead and disconnect when you hit the dirt. There's no harm in it, and it will make things smoother and easier.

Quick Disconnects were the first modification to my 203 Rubicon. The 2008 Rubicon came with the electric disconnect. I wore out 2 of those units. Also wore out the first electric disconnect unit on the 2015 Rubicon. Yeah, if you go off road, it can be important, or, at least running around in Rocks I find it to be a big advantage.
Should get my new Badlands some day this month. Ready to release that Sway Bar as soon as I get into 4-lo.

Do you recommend adding sway bar disconnect? Do you anticipate wearing out on badlands

I expect extended warranty to pay for all the things that will wear out on my New Badlands.
