I've been quiet satisfied with the hardtop on my 2dr Badlands but thought I'd give this trick a try. It does make a difference in the wind buffeting that you hear from the back of the doors . Now all I hear is the wind from between the windshield and the mirrors. I'll do something permanent and more factory looking when I take the top off. My Harkin hardtop hoist came in today so can't wait to find the time to get that installed :)
I'm not sure if the 4dr has the same hollow cavity behind the top but it would probably not hurt to try this on the more door as well.

Are there any issues with it falling out? Is any adhesive necessary to keep it in place? Thanks!
I have this issue and it annoys me so much from the passenger side.
There could be is why I stated the proper fix would be to attach factory style rubber weather stripping to the inside when the top is off the vehicle. This was more of an experiment to see if it would work and the best place to put it. I have been riding around for a week and it has been fine so far. Since that cavity is so deep I had thought of putting a thicker piece of foam so that it fit really tight but I do not want to possibly trap water and create an issue somewhere else.
When I remove the top my plan is to use a pc of Z-Channel weather strip where the tape side is stuck to the inside edge lip of the top and the exposed rubber side will fill the gap and be flush with the side of the top. That way wind will flow over the cavity without actually plugging the area up and creating a water issue.

Mine is usually rocking Boston or something similar around level 20 but the wife tends to frown if it goes past 10 or so. Anything louder and she says I can't hear her, I'm not listening to her, or something like that.😏
