I'd love to use a hoist, but our car port's ceiling is a little too low for it to be useful.
My wife would love to get the MIC top off the front porch (Tacky? Or classy decor? Hard to say ๐Ÿ˜† ).
I'm thinking something like this:

would be good to hold the hard top upright so it takes up less space in the already crowded car port. I'm wondering if any of y'all have used something like this -- the website seems to have mostly Jeep reviews for the product and I think the 2 Door has a bigger heavier roof than the 4 door?

Any input or experience with the product or one like it would be appreciated.
Cheers!

PS: wasn't sure if this should go in the accessories section or not; apologies if it's in the wrong spot!

I was working on my Bronco in a friend's garage. With the door pulled overhead, he has just a few inches of clearance, but I got to thinking: What if he (and you?) backed the Bronco a bit deeper into the garage, then (taking off the forward panels first, of course) rigged a hoist (paracord + small pulleys should suffice) to lift the rear-most section? If you positioned the pulleys so they were outside the perimeter of the rear-most ("cabinet") roof section, you might have enough clearance to hoist it right up to the ceiling, allowing you to drive out, leaving that rear roof section pulled up tight to the garage ceiling.

To re-install your rear MIC section, reverse the procedure. Or, if you want to remain topless, drive in forwards, and the hood of your Bronco should fit comfortably under the hanging roof part.

A bit of thin foam attached to the ceiling would protect your MIC section of getting marred.
And you'd have to work out a system of lines and pulleys (and holding hooks?) so you can lift it evenly.
If you can envision my idea, the MIC forward panels would be stored in a safe location, and the rear-most section would be either on your truck, or pulled up to the ceiling and out of your way.

I like the idea - our issue is that the hard top would be in a relatively high traffic area. Our car port is open on front and rear, as well as having a door at the side for access to the house. We use all sides of it for various activities including bikes, trash, lawn care equipment, etc.

If the HT was hovering from the ceiling in the back of the car port, it would definitely take up the least floor space (zero!), but I think it would also impact the ability to maneuver through the rear section of the car port, as we would have to duck under it to get anywhere. I have a feeling that having the HT on its end along one of the walls would actually have the least impact on the usability of the space.

There is actually a pretty decently priced piece of equipment that is similar to your description if I am envisioning it properly:

pretty awesome piece of kit!

I have a 2 door bronco, and a VERY small garage and couldn't mount a hoist due to ceiling height. I bought the TopLift Pro. It not only helped me take off the top easier, but I leave it on there for storage. If I need to move it, I just roll it around. I pull my Bronco in the garage normally. The MIC top is above the hood.

I went with RollnJack (www.rollnjack.com/products) for the rear roof removal and storage over the front of the Bronco. The rest of the roof and doors are stored on the Hooke Road Door and storage Cart (www.amazon.com/Hooke-Road-1997-2023-Gladiator-2021-2023/dp/B0BY2V6D48).
