Hey Bronco Friends,

I have a 2D Wildtrak and noticed the top has a sound like it has a leak "windy" on passenger side when driving above 40-45mph. I have not taken the top off at all. Took it in to get it looked at and they did replace the seal (see attached pic). I still hear it leaking after seal replaced and now I see they scratched my hard top when they took it off in multiple places. Has anyone observed or had this issue with leaks on their hard tops??

Yeah my top has a wind noise like the window is cracked open. it doesn't leak water even in the high power car washes so I just live with it. been almost 2 years now, I barely even notice it. I love the ability to remove the top and if that is all i have to deal with I can live with that.

Pretty much everyone has had noise, wind, popping issues with the tops. Due to their being modular/removable they will all make noise over time. Mix in the frameless doors and you will get more wind noise. I have never remove the panels (4Dr) to go off road. I have removed them while installing interior lighting though. I have never removed the back cap. I periodically take the front and center panels off and clean the gaskets, followed by applying silicone lubricant on the gaskets. This has always mitigated the wind, popping, cracking sounds that come up. Being ing AZ we have extreme heat and I find that especially after off road excursions the noise will increase. You are definitely not alone. I have had a few times during monsoon rains that it has leaked. But unlatching, adjusting panels and lubrication takes care of it.

Hi there! I can look into your Bronco's concern on my end. To get started, could you please send a private message over with the name/location of your local Ford dealer and your Bronco's VIN?

I get wind noise on my 2 door Basesquatch. Can't do anything about that. I've had a couple occasions when it leaked a drop or two of water. Removing and reinstalling the roof panels fixes that. It seem to be a matter of positioning the rubber seals just right.

One more story about wind noise — this time in a 4D. I’ve tried the suggested mitigations and they seem to work in my case.

I also have a water leak by the second row that happens when I go through the wash that I still have to resolve.

I found mine when I set up my shop light in the bronco closed it up and turned the lights out in the garage. I could see light between my second row panel and the rear clam shell and then I could see about 1/8” between the second row panel and the sports bar it is like the top is too wide by 1/8” so I just added some weather seal there. And added a little rubber between the clam shell and rear panel. Problem made better but not solved. I will work on it some more next month when we finally get some cooler weather.

Good suggestion. Thanks, @Jakob1972. My garage has a window so I’ll have to do this at night...

Definitely notice wind noise- but nothing terrible- just like having a rag top convertible ( used to have a Mini, amongst others). As long as it stays dry it’s just part of the experience- turn up the tunes 😂

I was having issues with my hard top sticking or being difficult to get front passenger panel off. I finally found the information listed below. The issues was also linked to excess wind novice and leaks. Maybe it will help? It worked for me.

Might not have anything to do with wind noise, but I remember several months back coming across a recall or customer satisfaction program that was for the rear side window seal being faulty due to not priming it correctly when the seal was installed (or something like that). I think it was specific to a model year(s). The concern was that the window could pop off while driving. But I could also see that creating a noise issue. My rear passenger side has wind noise at the top but I don't think my vehicle fell into the recall/CSP category (2023 Badlands) or the timeframe to get it fixed for free was expired, I don't remember. I looked into it because I had a water leak on one side (not the side I hear wind from) after a heavy rain but it seems to have sealed itself up (for now!).
