Gun safe/lockable storage under front seat?

Yes, I know there are lockable safes/"vault"/storage available for the center console, but that's not what I'm looking for - the center console is hard to reach into when belted into the seat, the lid is awkward to open easily and in your way when trying to reach into the console.

Does anyone offer (or has anyone installed) one of the small "biometric" gun safes that open with your fingerprint, or a code, under the front seat? There's quite a bit of room - the seat adjustment bar runs across the front of the opening, but there is room under it. The smallest gun safes I've seen measure about 11" long x 7" wide x 2" high, and can fit a large frame auto and a mag, or possibly 2 small autos. Some of us carry on a regular basis, an easy, safe way to store weapons or valuables in the vehicle when you can't take them into a building would be nice.

I’m looking at options as well. I’m a Vaultek fan so thinking about trying this one:

I don't think this is a viable option, not in NY anyway.

I opted for the Ford Center Console vault. Inside I attached a gun magnet to drivers side inner wall that houses my Glock 19 perfectly. I take it out when I get into vehicle and it is housed in a holster which is attached to DV8 Molle System (https://dv8offroad.com/collections/.../6th-gen-bronco-center-console-molle-panels); It holds gun safely with quick access even when 4 wheeling. When I stop to get out of vehicle, I put it back into center console vault. I also have the Ford Vault in back of Bronco for my truck long gun (daniel defense 300 Blackout).

Dang are we just promoting road rage on here now?!
Not road rage protection; you don't need a gun to ensue road rage. Also not just for guns, you can store your valuables in there, especially if your roof is off or top is down, most people wouldn't think to there was a safe at that place.

I can see being pulled over by a LEO. The officer steps to the driver's window, "May I see your license and registration please." And the driver's leg errantly ejects a handgun from the center console. Oh what fun ensues next. LOL.

You do see that it is lockable? Also, in most states it is required for ccw holders to immediately notify LEO's they are carrying concealed or have a concealed handgun in the vehicle.

How is being prepared promoting road rage? In most cases, a person who's carrying will likely try anything to avoid the confrontation, using a firearm is a last resort.

I have this vault as well, but figured the opening was a little small to easily get a decent sized handgun into / out of. Your idea to move it somewhere accessible when occupying the vehicle is pretty smart.

You assume all are responsible. It's location is good in that it would be harder for a car prowler to swipe it but it does not seem in anyway practical in an emergency situation to be driving reach over open a safe and get a trigger lock off and use. If needed for self defense it's not subtle and you'd get shot before you'd get it out. Whereas down low out if sight you'd could prepare to defend yourself. I guess when it comes to either guns or fast cars I always think through safety but also how some might use it as an argument to take away the rights of all if in the hands of an idiot.
Respectfully, I think your assumptions are wrong...the vault is spring loaded, the drivers uses their leg to open it..no reaching is required, except to grab the handgun. You also state it takes time to take the trigger lock off, what trigger lock--nobody I know or that I took training from carries in their vehicle or on their person with trigger lock on. Most carry ready to fight--1 in the chamber, safety off. If it's needed for self defense...it doesn't need to be subtle--it needs to be accessible and ready to fire instead of fumbling for it down low and out of sight.

If you read the OP's post, they were asking for a safe to store a firearm when then went into someplace they couldn't carry...I simply offered a suggestion. If you don't like it..move on.

I believe you're confused. I commented on the headrest vault. Not sure how someone could activate that with their leg. Would be impressive though.

@OrangecrushBronco you are correct to a certain extent. Most people should have the safety on and no round in the chamber, but not all. I have never had a safety and always have a round in the chamber. It is how I have always trained and if I had to safety off and chamber a round I would be dead. If my finger goes on the trigger something bad is about to happen. No accidents.

My concern is I cant carry at work and if I have the doors off. Do I decide to leave it at home or just bite bullet and get the ford factory one. I'm not a fan of changing the headrest and the biometric could be taken from under seat.

This is an alternate to the console safe, it appears to have a more robust mounting system than the console safe.

I went with this one so I have an option to lock things up when the top and doors are off. Obviously this is not an option for quick access.

I finally broke down and ordered the center console safe from ford and I should have it installed tonight. I will post a pic or 2 when done and an estimation on how long it will take to install. I ordered a magnet for inside as well but that hasn't shown up yet.
