I have been driving my new WildTrak in the Rocky mountains on the gravel roads and I’m amazed at all the rocks flying up. What does everyone think of the Go Rhino Dominator D1 running boards?
Is that a good choice for access and rock taming? Any other suggestions? Would mud flaps help?

I have these in my 2-door and like them overall. They definitely help deflect rocks from front tires, even with my mudflaps. (Love hearing the ting sound!) And they are a nice step height, if you don’t mind giving up a little ground clearance. They can rattle just a little where the treads bolt on (metal to metal), but only noticed that when doors are removed.

If I had it to do over, and had the extra $$, I’d consider the Zroadz slider step instead. Seems more sturdy if you need the slider function. But for steps, the Go Rhinos are good.

Great thanks, Fillup. Do you think the slider steps would be a better rock deflector? The rocks here are outrageous and I wanted to make sure I bought the most effective rock boards. What kind of mudflats do you have? They would probably help with rocks also.

I have the OEM hoop steps on our 4 door. I also have the Gatorback mud flaps. Just spent 2 weeks on trails in MT & ID. The flaps worked great.

It appears that a good set of mud flaps will go a long way in stopping the rocks from flying up.

I have the IAG flaps, similar to several Amazon sellers. They are not the kind that are easily removed for added clearance, which is why I didn’t mind using the steps that drop down a couple of inches.

I think either step would catch most rocks, but there may be a slight advantage to the Rhino since the holes look smaller.

So the Gator mud flaps took care of all the flying rocks? I like the fact that they are rubber not plastic, probably quieter. The hoop steps seem expensive compared to the Rhino Dominator.
