I have an older Garmin 2689 GPS, with the EcoRoute device I purchased many moons ago. It still works great and I get lifetime map updates. Hey Ford are you listening, life time map updates for FREE!! Pay ya $60K plus for a truck and you bleed us on map updates....but I digress. The EcoRoute is a plug in OBDII unit that reads a number of engine readouts, including the error codes your engine provides. It gives oil pressure, timing, Tach, engine load, throttle position, and others I don't remember without looking them up.
So I put this GPS in my Bronco the other day to see what the engine temp was. Remember you get the 4 wonderful bars, not the drinking type, on the dash. The weather here in MI has been in the high 40's to mid 50's the last few days. My max engine has been 195. That was on the expressway driving up one of the steep mountains here in MI, (small 2 percent grade for a short distance, not towing). On average it runs 190. I have the 2.7, Badlands, no SAS, 10 speed trans. I thought it would have been a bit higher. My 2017 F-150 averages 213. Wanted to share this information with folks. Other tid bit of info. when the first bar lights up the dash the temp reads 100.
