I'm absolutely done with, fix or repair daily! 4 yrs of dealers telling me my sh_t isn't working due to aux accessories. My sh_t is tested by me for load and I have 0. So the last straw is today after my bronco sitting on a tender for 3 wks is f__king dead. Like completely dead. i was notified by the stupid app I'm in conservation mode. LOL! so ford get your sh_t together cuz windows/doors that won't shut due to a batt failure is complete bullsh_t while it's raining/snowing. also i need to get to the cargo area for jumper cables, but i havr to climb though the vehicle when dark and no cargo lights to guide the way to the back. maybe I'll f—king wear jumper cables as a seatbelt so i always have access. hey Dearborn get ready for a ghost ride though hq. i have a bronco for sale with a front shaft, axles and diff with harness for sale in addition to the vehicle. many upgrades are included too. serious inquiries only.

background is, 5 dealers in 2 states can't prove that's my accessories. i have had random replacement of parts by dealers and no success and i stopped them from an ecu replacement. which was a battery and alt w/ upgraded mud shield. those were fine when i checked them before service, so they were chucking all the obvious electrical parts at it. it sucks cuz all of the big 3 are like this. i'm a union fitter and hit all the plants. currently on a gm press job that's a f__king disaster. supposed to be commissioning this 25yo beast, but still waiting on corporates answers. here's one idea, preventative maintenance. how many 10s of thousands a minute are you losing? pm goes along way and then we the customer doesn't have to float you bill. It's pronounced the way the swedish chef would pronounce it.

@fresh coast I'm sorry if I am not seeing it, but did you ever have the battery replaced, or your dealer said it was good? I know some people have had success switching dealers, if that's a possibility for you with distance, etc. Is/was your Bronco a daily driver?

@fresh_coast I can't imagine how frustrating this must be!

I don't suppose you happen to have the Rock Slide engineering steps, do you? I've heard more people complain about them pulling power and running the battery down when the Bronco just sits than I can shake a stick at.

All I know is that most of the time when this happens, it's the battery. Has Ford replaced that yet?

Yeah, sitting on a tender and the battery being dead simply indicates the battery is shorted and is in need of replacement. OP, can you unplug the aux accessories for 3 weeks and see if the battery gets depleted?

I'm curious exactly what accessories you have on your Bronco @fresh coast ? I'm with @Eninty, if possible just unplug those accessories if at all possible. But I agree, this sure sounds like battery failure to me, which is pretty common in these Broncos.

So he created the problem? 😄

Another thing owners may need to be aware of is keeping the keys in the Bronco/near the Bronco, especially if it isn't driven every day.

I’m forever amazed at the antics and outright ineptitude people experience when dealing with Ford Dealers. I don;t claim to understand at all how the whole dealership system works, but in my personal case I have very good fortune with a dealer I have worked with for twenty-plus years… They are actually struggling to meet service demands because of a couple dealerships closing in the area in the last few years (due sadly to poor service reputations).

If you find a dealer you like, hold onto them and spend the time it ages to build a relationship… Makes a big difference when you have an issue…

I don't know how to "find a dealer I like."
I have tried the 3 dealers within 20 miles of me, and the Service departments of all of them are poor. The people are nice, just not helpful. Always more than a week to get an appointment. Difficult to schedule rides to/from when they want the car for more than a few hours. No sense of responsibility for the Ford product.

Hey Laura, what were you referring to about being aware of leaving keys in or near bronco? I have heard nothing about this.

From my understanding, the vehicle detects it and with the modules activated, it can be a drain on a weak battery. @Stonekoldk (or anyone else; we were just talking about it recently) can correct me if I'm wrong!

Ya know, I understand your frustration with Ford. Been there my self with my Bronco. But please grow up. The language does not make you tough, it makes you sound like a moron. I'm so tired of people and nothing but cuss words. GROW UP!!

Another thing owners may need to be aware of is keeping the keys in the Bronco/near the Bronco, especially if it isn't driven every day.

It's also a security risk. There are people going around stealing cars using what's called a relay attack. A relay attack uses two devices — often looking like a large handheld antenna, radio box, or backpack — to extend the signal from your key fob to your vehicle.

How the relay attack works (simple version):
  1. Thief #1 stands near your house with a large antenna-like device.
Their goal is to “catch” the weak radio signal your key fob constantly emits.
  2. The device amplifies and relays that signal to Thief #2, who is standing next to your Bronco with a second device.
  3. Your Bronco believes the real key is right next to it →
it unlocks and allows the engine to start.
  4. The thieves drive away.
(Most cars don’t require the fob to keep running once started.)

Best practices to protect your vehicle

These are the steps that actually matter:
1. Don’t store your keys near the front of the house
Keep your fob:
  • deeper inside the home
  • in a drawer, closet, or far from exterior walls

2. Use a Faraday pouch/box
This is the #1 easiest and most effective fix.
A Faraday pouch blocks RF signals entirely.
  • $8–$20 on Amazon
  • Works for your primary key and spare
  • You can toss it in a drawer and be done

Personally, I keep all my car keys in a Faraday box.

My bronco lives in a Metal shop/garage that is about 100 feet from where I store my key fobs. The bronco is in a faraday cage so I wonder if that helps. We have switched to diving the Bronco only on weekends and sometimes it is weeks between drives on a three year old battery and seems fine fires right up every time.
I don’t worry about someone steeling Darryl from the house.
They would have to get past the geese, the donkey, the llamas, the Great Pyrenees and Great Danes, go through two gates and cross two electric fences to get here.
