Bronco Life

Jan 22, 2024

Fun trip to Gatlinburg this past weekend. The adventure began Saturday morning on the way to Hall's Top Road trail (via onX Off Raod GPS App). Came up on a full sized mid 2000's Chevy crew cab lifted truck with bald tires - he slid down an icy hill right into a deep ditch - passenger side in the ditch and drivers' side on the road. I do not have a winch (yet), but I do have 1" Rhino kinetic with a soft shackle. I hooked up and yanked that big b*/tch right out 1st tug - it was a good sight with the police there stopping traffic, due to pulling down into oncoming traffic.
Second part of adventure was the climb up a forestry road to the lookout tower on Hall's Top Mountain. It was sketchy to say the least - butt hole was puckered up the entire way up (4x4 Auto), and the way down was not much better (4x4 low with both lockers). There was 6-8 inched of snow (deeper as we climbed) with a nice ice base and a substantial drop off.
I never had this rig in the snow yet and I was confident in its ability otherwise, but now I am completely sold that this new Bronco is an absolute Billy goat (stock Outer banks 2 door Sasquatch Lux) There was some slipping and sliding, but it maintained composure like a champ!

Happy wheeling folks!

Nice writeup, @afkovacs, and nice of you to help out with your gear. Velocity Blue looks great in the snow.

Yesterday, I had some ice fun with my 2021 First Edition Bronco. Our driveway is a 1/4 mile, on an incline, and not salted since our land sits on the Chesapeake Bay. Since we are in Annapolis, MD drivers are not used to ice and snow. The Amazon truck, loaded with deliveries, came down the hill but the driver slowed on the exit, got stuck on the ice, and slid backward down the hill into our garden bed. His right wheel was now buried in mud and snow and the left on ice. Using two traction boards, the snatch strap, and my Bronco in "Rock Crawl" GOAT mode, I not only was able to pull this truck out of the mud, but hauled him up the hill (which had more ice) about 1/8 mile at a maximum slope of 15 degrees. The driver and my wife were shocked that the Bronco could do this (which made me smile of course!). The Bronco is some machine! 2B2F183E-051D-4C56-9327-92C10F15CFCA_1_105_c.jpeg9C2C12E4-3353-418A-8529-FD0034730959_1_105_c.jpeg

Thank you for posting your stories - Nice pics too! Nothing like snow/ice to reveal who's riding on bad tires..

Glad to hear of this rig's performance. I ordered mine just like yours (even the colour) on October 18 2023. Went into production on Jan. 18, 2024 and shipped to dealer on the 22nd. Looking forward to driving this little bad boy.
