Front License Plates in Connecticut and Other States

Where are you putting your front license plate on your Bronco?

Today I was talking with my dealer about installing my plate and EZ Pass on the lower part of the bumper, but to do that with my OEM plastic bumper, they would have to remove the bumper to drill the appropriate holes, which would be pretty expensive.

I sort of got the impression that I dont really need a front plate. What are other Connecticut Bronco owner's doing? And what are residents of other states that require front plates doing? Where are you putting your plates?

I told my dealer to leave it off. Rather go to prison than have that hideous license plate on the front ruining the beautiful art work that is the bronco :p

well I didnt even notice that on pics. i have a year to think about it i guess. Doesnt look I will get my Bronco anytime soon

Sad my 21 Bronco will now be a 22 and I hope not 23? Outer Banks, 4 door, Cactus Gray, Lux with towing and hardtop.

Do a search on the forums, its been talked about for awhile. I’m telling my state to screw themselves, in which they’ll reply with a personalized ticket, just for me. Other option is to use a hook mount plate

i did a search on this and saw some people said they got a $90 ticket but plead not guilty and showed they had put it on and it was dismissed. But some police commented not having a plate gave police reasons to stop cars and look for other problems. Also one lady said she had a custom frame for her front plate that blocked some of the CT plate and got a ticket for $117 for obscuring the CT plate information.

Sad my 21 Bronco will now be a 22 and I hope not 23? Outer Banks, 4 door, Cactus Gray, Lux with towing and hardtop.

While we're on the topic... does anyone know if the standard front bracket requires drilling into the bumper/grill/trim??

If so I'm going to tell my dealer to hold off and I'll try to find a 3rd party solution. I don't mind if the Ford solution is simply bolt-on, but if it requires permanent modification I rather just zip-tie it to the grill/bumper until I find something better.

sounds like a great idea if you are handy building stuff. a bronco inspired bracket that requires no drilling. kind of like those stick on hanging doodads that remove easily from drywall.

I planned ahead. In 2006, I anticipated that the Bronco would be released 15 years later and a front license plate would look like crap, so I went ahead and packed my bags for Arizona where a front license plate is not required.

‘22, 4 door Badlands, 2.3l, MT, MIC top, lux, Sasquatch, tow. Velocity Blue.
