Doing my best to think of non works things. 3 questions:

1) Anybody know the purpose of the wire running through the rear seat? My assumption is it houses a cable that does locking and unlocking to release it to put it down.

2) Has anybody considered just putting skateboard grip tape on the door sill? Seems like an inexpensive effective alternative to the other "stick on" products that have a logo laser cut into them.

3) I'm looking for a product that can be screwed in to the holes left by the hard top to clean up the look and protect the top of the quarter panel (the kids climb into the rear seats using this as a platform). I have no idea what to search for, as any quarter panel related searches yield results pertaining to the entire rear quarter panel!

Cheers y'all! Ready for the weekend.

Thanks! Those are marked as a product for the 4 door - I wonder if they'll fit the 2 door with modification? Or is that tub rail area identical on the two models? I'll look into that. Cheers

I think the Skate Board surface sounds great !

I did make bed caps for myself last year as nobody was making them and I love tinkering.

I also built a frame later for Tubes to mount on top.

Everything just bolts on with the existing Bed holes.
I just had to use a bit longer bolts.

I’m sure not everyone’s cup o tea.

But I like (Different)

Whoa those are amazing! I DM'd you! :)

I think I'm going to some skate grip tape cut to size for the sill. We'll see if it lasts!

As @Jakob1972 recalled , these truck bed caps were for a dodge.
“ONLY “ because I was able to get them from a truck quip store,
Some special order that never got paid for or something.
I only paid 40 or 50 bucks for them.

When I was looking for bed caps I was focusing on two things.
The MOST important was the radius at the end where it rolls around the corner towards the tailgate.
The other was Stake Bed holes.
I didn’t want them ,
If so , I wanted them in the right place so I could use them.
Full size Bed rail caps will generally only have 3 stake bed holes.
(For a 2 Door Bronco) 4foot 2inches of the bed cap is all that you will use.
The last 6 inches of that 4’ 2” is just a tongue of the cap reaching around the B Pillar. So a stake bed hole up there doesn’t matter as your cutting that away anyways.

The rear radius wrapping around the back corner of the Bronco is elliptical.
As a reference for myself, when out looking for possible fits ?
I used my hand as a somewhat rough guide of the radius.
Which as it turns out was pretty close.

I wanted the cap to flow smoothly into the body line and not over it.
As I don’t want rub marks in the paint or sand and or moisture trap for a seasonal usage addition.
That’s where the 3/4” pvc spacer came into play. Also , it supports more of the cap surface from underneath,

The wider PVC platform will sit atop of the narrow perch that the mic tops sit on.

Now your just building a sandwich basically.
Unfortunately I have no pics without the Tube.
But this’ll give you a rough idea.
The square hole in the pvc is not necessary. That’s an access for mounting the tube bars.

Tricky…
Bolt hole alignments.
The MIC holes are not arranged in a straight easy pattern.
I used paper then a pencil rubbing to find the marks dead on.
Then a cardboard mock up.
Then cutting / shape the 3/4” solid pvc and drilled out accordingly.

Adding the Tubes was the most time consuming believe it or not.
1/4” plate with a 5” ish riser up against the rear of the B pillar with a 2” long ID reciever so that end of the tube could slide onto the riser without the support being seen.

The hidden support for the Tube ,
This pic “the riser which rests against the b pillar “
The exterior tube slides over the hidden 2”s of steel tube that is welded to the riser.

The bed mount of the rail is mounted from the under side of the 1/4” plate.

Making the rail “appear” to just flow into the B pillar,
Which in reality,
It’s sitting on a steel reciever.
Pic below just tack welded.
Obviously the reciever was welded all the way around.
