Ford Pass Down Until April!

My Ford Pass app is dead until April. I have to bring my Bronco to the dealer so they can perform a software update.

The app has not updated my vehicle information for several days. I tried to "Activate" the vehicle through the app but had no success. A subsequent chat with two Ford Pass representatives revealed that I had to take the Bronco to the dealer to get it reactivated. They said that a number of 2023 Broncos and F-150 pickup trucks were affected and that the update would not be available until sometime in April. A similar post on B6G indicated the update wouldn't be available until JUNE! As the Dude would say, "That's a Bummer, man."

Has anyone else noticed that their Ford Pass app is no longer working?

UPDATE: I got a (temporary?) fix to work… By disconnecting the negative battery terminal and resetting the app. Based on the experience of others, this may be only a quick fix until Ford can update the system on their end, as early as mid-April or as late as June. Fingers crossed…

I have a 23 and the app randomly will stop working. But after a week it sends me a notification saying to save battery life on the truck it shut the connection down. The app starts to work after that.

I got my Bronc Feb 19th, Ford Pass activated that night at the dealer and worked fine 'till March 4th when I went to start and wouldn't start. Looked online and seen everyone having the problem. Tried deleting the app and re-installing, tried resetting the connectivity in the vehicle, then tried removing the vehicle from Ford Pass and re-adding didn't work, lastly tried removing the fuse (#12) behind panel under steering wheel didn't work for me (didn't feel like disconnecting the battery). Have appointment with dealer to have an accessory replaced tomorrow and was going to mention, but miraculously it started working Monday March 20th. I seen a post about a fix in June will let the dealer know still.

There have been posts that disconnecting the battery for 5-10, will I guess temporarily resolve the problem.

That reboots the system, same solution you use for Windows. . .

Computers are weird. Fortunately, the Ford Pass app is merely a free convenience whose absence doesn’t impede the vehicle’s performance. If I were paying for the service, I’d be more upset but until I do, this is just a minor inconvenience and a simple first world problem. I still love the truck itself. But yeah, losing connectivity to the app when it was working just fine for nine weeks is a little bizarre!

I've had no issues with mine and as I use secure alert, the notifications come in just like clockwork and all other features seem to work perfectly as well. I wonder what they did differently for your 23 versus my 22.

Ford Pass is software or instructions made by man. My FORD PASS has a SSM depending who uses OASIS dealer service software. The power management which controls the alternator clutch going on or off, like the air conditioner compressor clutch only draws energy from crank by belts and pullies, and only engages when it gets signals from the power management or HVAC module.

Remember all those chips that Ford could not get. Well it looks like the Russian just made a deal with the Chinese , so we have to wait until the Ohio FAB by Intel are up and running. Mean time those chip are killing Ukranians!

Back to Ford Pass. See RO attached and SSM . My START AND STOP(SS) IS DEAD! A UK service manager says if AGM battery is at 75% the SS will not work. Ford Pass is doing update for June and they say only 2023 Bronco. Dealer want$195 to read me below SSM😣

Finally DATA MINEING by Ford , who Sells our driving, shopping, etc data is legal but read the attached SSM it draws down your expensive AGM battery designed for SS

Oh by the way my FORD PASS is working on this 5 year old cheap Fire 8" tablet which was paired by the dealer and has Google Play Store and Ford Pass Apps.

Ain't AMERICA GREAT! I haited that PIA SS so I just let Ford Pass mine my data and keep the battery below 75%. See ro below, dealer says battery is good , to save Ford from giving me a new AGM battery just charges to 12.43v enough to read a good battery, but their left hand warrantee people dont talk to FORD PASS!

Stupid question probably, but do you automatic transmission folks have remote start on your key fobs?? I could see this being a huge pain if the only way to remote start your Bronco is with the FordPass app. (Probably less of a pain now that it’s getting warmer.)

FordPass works fine for me, but I also have a manual, so its usefulness is very limited. I do know there is some issue with a handful of 2023MY units failing to talk properly with AT&T, but don’t know the details.

It’s the weird features that I found oddly useful, or simply fun to have. Like the map feature that shows your current position versus your parked vehicle. That, and the vehicle condition (I.e. mileage, miles to empty, fuel remaining, tire pressure, etc.) It’s not a total loss, it’s just a nifty feature that you notice when it’s no longer available. I just got used to having it is all.

Sorry you‘re having to deal with this, Chris…. I just checked mine this morning and its fine, with all functionality I tested…

I do find the app a little wonky, as in when I try to turn on a light zone, it drops into an endless loop, but if I back out and go back in I see the correct zone has engaged…

I’ve twice had to disconnect the negative terminal on the battery for 15 minutes to reset the sync head (I think) so the FordPass app could again see it…

try this…. In the car, turn on and look at your navigation menu…. Is weather available (not greyed out)? Also, if you look along the top of the menu bar on the sync screen, you will see a couple of arrows at center right (one up, one down) that will tell you whether the rig is talking to the rest of the world…

IN both cases for me I had lost connectivity in the app, disconnected the negative terminal for 15 minutes (did NOTHING else), and everything came back to life once i reconnected…. 10mm wrench

BTW- in most cases I find the dealer knows less about this stuff than I do… Ford IT is less than stellar, and turnover at dealerships means the tech person may or may not be helpful… They’re depending on the same bulletins you and I can get…. If I really get stuck I call (not text) FordPass as their FordPass Guides are amazing

LAST EDIT ON THIS THREAD: I have used FordPass for 5-6 vehicles, and as my sales guy said, it feels sometimes like it was designed and written by high school students in a garage…. That being said, it is SO MUCH better than it used to be, and they are working to improve functionality continually. I think there is some major disconnect between dealers and Ford concerning FordPass…. For instance, I bought an extended warranty (Ford product) which I should be able to see on my FordPass app, but can’t…. Dealer says they continue to work with Ford on it, but I’m guessing there is a checkbox that needs to be clicked somewhere in the bowels of the system…

Yes, the key fob allows you to remote start your Bronco.

I've used the remote start via FordPass App a few times when I wasn't close enough to use the key fobs such as in the Airport. Other than that, I've rarely used it or look at it. I guess I've looked at it a few times when asked if I've gotten a recent update.

The key fob remote start works immediately if you press lock and then the remote start button (twice?). No delay, for autos only, obviously. It’s cool but I don’t know when I’d use this feature, personally.

I use mine every morning when it’s cold…. Starts the rig a minute or two before i go out… would not be of as much use in your parking situation

Mine is down as well. 23 BL Sas. Picked mine up Feb 19. I've tried everything to get it working. I've also noticed it won't show any available WiFi networks when I scan. Glad I found this thread. Going to try and do the battery disconnect and reset that way. 🤞

That gives me hope. I’m sure it’s just an anomaly and not part of a global data mining conspiracy. There’s a lot of data to manage here, and the Ford Pass people are doing their best to deliver a quality product.

I just got off the phone with one of their reps, who wanted to follow up with me. Great customer service. Helpful and informative. I still want to try the home remedies, but I’m willing and able to wait until they can sort out the bugs. Just another side to having the convenience we’ve all come to expect. I could be all bitter and resentful but what good would that do? None! 🤓

I just picked up my Ford Bronco Badlands 2 days ago. They had me load the app on my phone, did the sync with the Bronco and 5 minutes later everything was up and running. No problems the last 2 days and I know the dealer didn't do anything special. They even admitted that they are so small that they only get a few each month and the owner picks them up almost the same day they arrive. Soooo, they don't have much experience with getting Broncos up and running with the Ford Pass App. Its like they know less than I do, and I know almost nothing.
