What Is a Telematics Device? A telematics device is an instrument, usually provided by your insurance company, that you install into your car. It records information about your driving behavior, including how fast you drive, how fast you brake, and the distance you drive.Ford Pass connect 4Gwifi hot spot telematrics device.

So we are now in big brother. My Bronco insurance is less than my old Range Rover which was 2x the sticker. Why? The Ford Pass modem when activated by someone, like police at scene of high speed accident can get rpm high speed, if steering allert irratic steer plus location breadcrumbs. The insurance company can check my driving too. Where I drive from like last night a a bar , time engine started, where I went, speed and you name it.

WOW my friend in Highway patrol just google my vin and FordPass telematics tells all. This is high tech black box data recording but now jot spot uploads to Ford.

If I miss my third Ford Credit payment, they know where Bronco is, and maybe can remotely disable engine in start stop modular. Real simple. How about accident avoidance in from of grill. How many times did I get to close and that modular hits the brakes and lights up on dash! WOW did I loose my three year safe driver discount?

Big brother is here, same techknowlegy as used in trucking industry to keep data on drivers. Dont drink and drive in your Bronco , and dont speed or Ford Pass may call the local police car remotely.

But officer I was only doing three miles over the limit. Had Jag with speed limitator, tagged at 90 according to officer at bottom of hill , and operators manual saws may not work on hills and was set for 70 mph. Go figure!

Insurance companies are watching us. My Porsche cab 911S will never get this crap. Good thing I got the 2.3L snail 0-60 ,,8 sec car vs Range Rover Cayote V8 385 hp/torq 5 sec cars.

Bronco with My Keys goes to grandkids. No load radio to get shot at by someone and set for 55 mph. Also most ticketed color is a red car, police see them real good. Happy Holidays!

Er...um...okay....? And you were expecting what? As in the trucking Industry, High tech comes with watch dog programs. If YOU wanna be financially liable instead of the insurance company than you have a dog in the fight, otherwise, go buy a early 80's model. I am a HUGE proponent of personal privacy, so dont think I'm bieng negative here. I just change what I can and accept what I cant change.

None of the telematics work if you wear a tinfoil hat while in or near your vehicle and line the interior of the engine bay with lead. Theres also a stealth mode you can use to make the car invisible to repo agents if you miss a payment. As for the Ford Pass modem, that only works when you have the spare tire mounted on the rear of the vehicle, if you carry in the front passenger seat, deflated, it disables the modem, but only after you've removed the top (hard or soft top) 3 times on the 4th Saturday of the month and have nitrogen in one of the front and one of the rear tires, but it must be in alternate corners of the vehicle.

Actually, no. Insurance co. Only gets data if you request insurance rates based on the data. No one at the scene of an accident can get telematics data without your permission. Police require a court order to get telematics data. You can have it setup to use your phone to call 911.
Your explicit permission or instruction or a court order are required to get any telematics data.

I mean…he’s using the internet…and probably has a cell phone. If you’re worried about your car being able to track you, you should probably look into Cell Site Location Information and IP addresses….

You have to be naive to think the data is secure, the mechanics read that data when the car is in for service.

And your cell phone company does it, and your internet company does it, and Instagram does it, and Google does it. Buy yourself a VPN and get rid of anything that connects to wifi if you’re so concerned about your data being out there. I don’t understand the point of this thread. What is the main issue of concern? Original post was regarding fleet cars, which don’t belong to the driver typically and the owner has every right to track. Again, as stated by another member earlier, law enforcement cannot get this info without a search warrant. If they do, it’s a 4th amendment violation and probably a pay day for you. If you believe you can Google your VIN and get all the telematics data from your car, you need to back it up with some actual evidence. Otherwise, stop starting threads like this and go enjoy your Bronco like many of us wish we could.
