Ford Pass app reliability

I have a Bronco scheduled for production in late August. I currently drive a Tesla Model 3 and so I have not carried a key fob with me in a long time as your phone is your key. I dont plan on getting rid of it as its convenient and cheap to drive. I also have a door lock on my house that uses Apple HomeKey so I dont carry a house key either. I am 100% keyless.

Is the Ford Pass Apple Watch or iPhone app reliable enough that I could use it to unlock my car and start it and not carry a key fob? I also added the keyless entry pad as well so I could aways get in that way. I just have never used remote start in a gas car or in a brand other than Tesla.

I've had a pretty good/reliable experience with the Ford Pass App. Its no where as quick as the Tesla app and its not proximity based in the way Tesla is so you'll have to open up the app each time you want to lock/start/unlock your car, but they have definitely improved speeds in recent months and I find it reliable enough to lock my keys in the car.

To my knowledge, you wont be able to drive bronco w/o fob. I start mine with the app as well but once inside the vehicle, it tells u key not detected if u do t have it.. 🐎

Sorry, misread OPs post. Thanks for clarifying @Chief Ron, yes you will still need the physical fob to drive the Bronco and power it on post remote start.

Aw man. That's a bummer.I guess the point of the feature then is to warm up the vehicle?

No… the remote start is not meant as a long-term effort, but to start from your home and warm it up, or whatever (I believe)… locking and unlocking work fine, though about 10-30 second lag depending on cell signal

Smart move.! So many people poo-pooing the keypad. Yours will be body color since it is factory added. The key fob is a multi-function tool that makes it very bulky to carry. Check this comparison next to one of my former cell phones.! Mine stays in the Bronco. Fortunately, I live in a rural area where "grand theft auto" is almost unheard of. In metro areas, a carabiner clips the fob to a belt loop when parking/locking. The Pass app? Works thru the AT&T cellular network (to my knowledge) so you're at the mercy of tower proximity and data load on that nearest tower. When I upgraded from my older S7 android based Samsung phone to their newer S23, the app performance improved. It is so much simpler, FOR ME, to keep my phone in its holster, the fob in the Bronco and let my index finger do its thing, 99 out of 100 times that I open the door.! For individuals with a very structured lifestyle, the app allows "scheduled start" for those cold mornings or very hot afternoons where the Bronco will be warm/cool for your trip to work or your trip home from work. I like that.!

I remember the days when keyless fobs were getting smaller and smaller and the complaints started pouring in that they were easy to misplace and get lost. Now they are making them as big as a cell phone is the new complaint.

LOL, can't please everybody.
