As Ford Authority reported last August, 2024 Ford Bronco Badlands and Sasquatch Package-equipped models now come equipped with the beefed-up steering steering gear present in the H.O.S.S. 3.0 suspension system as standard equipment, a move that reportedly stemmed from customer feedback regarding concerns over tie rods breaking out on the trails, as well as Trail Turn Assist causing modified Broncos to suffer from broken axle welds. Ford later clarifiedthat customers installing things like larger wheels and tires and other modifications on their Broncos should ensure that they’re upgrading every aspect of their suspension along with it – or if they don’t plan on doing so, it’s best to avoid using Trail Turn Assist. Now, those that own a Ford Bronco without this beefier equipment can order it directly from the Ford Performance catalog, too.

Listed under part number M-3200-WT, what’s officially called the “Ford Bronco Severe Duty Steering Upgrade Kit” is available to purchase now for $1,300, and includes a higher torque motor and the improved/reinforced steering gear casing present in the Bronco Raptor, along with stronger inner tie rods with improved articulation and reinforced outer tie rods with increased deflection ball joints.

According to Ford, this beefier steering upgrade kit “significantly reduces steering efforts in various off-road conditions,” and it’s also comparable with all 2021-2024 Ford Bronco models – including the 2021-2022.5 four-door Wildtrak – except for 2021-2023 Bronco four-door Base, Big Bend, Outer Banks, Black Diamond, and Badlands trimmed SUVs that aren’t equipped with the factory Sasquatch Package.

However, installing this part also requires owners to purchase the Ford Pro-Cal 4 tool to program and configure the new steering gear, a process that must be done before the original part is removed. That tool can be purchased from Ford under part number M-12655-F for a cost of $495.

We’ll have more parts and accessories to share soon, so be sure and subscribe to Ford Authority for more Ford Bronco news and comprehensive Ford news coverage.

Now the question is, should I be proactive and replace it now or wait to see if I break it then go with the Severe Duty upgrade? Price doesn't seem too bad comparing to the prices of all the other fun stuff I want.

Yeah, gotta believe most of this kit's upgrade is in the steering rack. I mean, Bronco's inside tie rods are 14mm and these severe duty are 16mm. Sure, +2mm's stronger, but the steering rack upgrade seems much more significant.

Obviously, if $$s available, 74Welt's rack would be another order of magnitude stronger..

Thank you @Ford for getting this done. Now do hard tops next. 😂

The cost seems pretty fair. New Icon tie rods and a 74Weld housing will set you back the same amount of cheddar. I might pull the trigger on this after Moab.

Waiting personally, just in case a solid aftermarket option comes around.

But also... it isn't going to be plug-and-play for me. Something about the 4-door non-Sasquatch racks makes the upgrade to this new rack impossible. And guess who has a 4-door non-Sasquatch??

Personally I think its easier to replace the rack when your Bronco is clean and on at hard ground, fixing things in a mud hole or next to it is not my idea of fun.😜

Actually the king of recalls should just recall them and replace them.

This is awesome that Ford officially allowed us to get this aftermarket. I'll have to keep my eyes on this later in year if I end up breaking my current setup.

I contacted my Ford part's dealer and they said they couldn't order it. It was a Ford performance item and not available to them.
He tried to see if he could get from a bigger Ford dealer and no luck. This is a guy who helps me a lot.
They referred me to stage 3 motor sports.
Does this sound right?
I was hoping to use some of my points to get it.

Yup.

Ford Performance Parts is technically Ford's aftermarket brand... they aren't considered "normal" Ford parts, so your dealer cannot order it through the normal parts channels. Some dealers—such as those with aftermarket shops—are Ford Performance Parts resellers, but most dealers are not.

If you want to use FordPass points you can order it from Ford Performance directly here. Otherwise you can order it from one of the many Ford Performance dealers. CJ Pony Parts, Stage3 Motorsports, and Summit Racing are all popular dealers. My personal favorite dealer is Lethal Performance.

OR... alternatively... you can wait until it appears on Bronco Nation's Gear store. Then you can use your Bronco Nation membership for a 10% discount. (Which reminds me, I forgot to message @London about that.)

Thanks for all that. I am trying to get it done in the next 30 days if possible. And with that information I know what I need to pursue now.

Dam I was really hoping to have my local dealer order and install this. I'm wondering if I order it they will still install it. Another question is if the rack from ford parts NB3Z=3504-M is the same as the rack from ford performance M-3200-WT it seems like it should be, if it is the dealer could order that one and then the only thing you would need from ford performance is the procal.

Yeah, I was hoping my dealer would be able to get it and install it.
Turns out they can't.

Like posted above, I'm going to stop by stage 3 and see how they can help

Yes, it is.

All 2-door models, and all 4-door models with Sasquatch.

Any ideas why this isn’t compatible with non-SAS? Makes no sense to me. Very odd. And what if I’ve added 35s on my own?
