Is it normal for a Ford Dealer to want to charge to do the temporary update to this problem, I would think since Ford knows there is a problem it would be under warranty?

I would say when the fix emerges it will be free, but until that time the dealer has to foot the bill for fixing, so I can imagine they are going to charge. What is the temporary fix they are doing?

Thanks,

Right now they did some sort of computer upgrade, but not sure brakes won’t continue to go to sleep after 45 minutes of flat towing with supplemental brakes. Total fix put off for another two months

Here is the SSM (Special Service Message) that was posted Tuesday. You must take your Bronco to the dealer to get this update.
SSM 51415 2021-2023 Bronco - Neutral (4-Wheel Flat) Towing - Inconsistent Brake Feel Through The Supplemental Brake System
Customers who neutral (4-wheel flat) tow a 2021-2022 Bronco equipped with a 2.7L engine or a 2022-2023 Bronco Raptor may report an inconsistent brake assist when a supplemental braking system has been installed. This may result from supplemental brake system set-up that does not account for the vehicles anti-lock brake (ABS) module entering sleep mode after a pre-determined period of time following vehicle shut-down. This functionality was necessary to prevent a battery drain from occurring. Enhanced software has been developed to keep the ABS module in a consistent sleep state when the vehicle enters neutral tow mode. For vehicles that meet this criterion, reprogram the ABS module using the latest software level of the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) scan tool. For claiming, use casual part 2C219.

Well guess what, looks like this update to fix the EBB going to sleep as been out there for a couple of months and it is a OTA update.

Ran across a post it this thread:

https://www.bronco6g.com/forum/thre...ota-software-update-instructions.45983/page-9

So I when out an checked my Bronco a few minutes ago and yes I have the update.

Looking in OASIS I got update 22-PU1010-MIL-LT on Feb. 13, 2023 which is the ABS updated software.

Bulletin Date: Nov. 17, 2022
Component: Owners/service manual.
Bulletin Summary: Priority update 22-pu1010-mil-lt for 2021-2022 model year bronco vehicles is now available. Quality improvements include: improvements to neutral tow and ebb interaction, improvements to esc-off switch not reacting, improvement to mil ligh

You will know if you have the update because you will get some new warnings about the brakes.
You can do a quick check by putting your Bronco in the Tow Mode, You do not need to be connected to your motorhome.
If you have the updated ABS software you will see several brake and pre-collision assist warnings. Just press OK and they will go away. You will also get a Check Brake System when you get out of Tow Mode again just press OK.

Go into tow mode without the fuses pulled and see if you get the brake warnings.

It would sure be nice to know about the new messages. I took mine in to the dealer for this..they had no clue. so I feel the brake do a strange thing as well when this gets enabled. It kicks my foot up. I use an rvi brake system. Does this mean it's an active assist or vacuum assist system now? Thanks for the thread I haven't gotten anywhere on my question. I never felt I lost brakes after 45 mins. I did lose power to the cigarette plug in the console in an hour so that was an issue. Also once in tow mode you can not release the parking brake?

I'm the guy that was helping you yesterday on Facebook. Set your RVibrake 3 to vacuum. Your Bronco is now like a vacuum boost without the engine running, brake boost is turned off as soon as you go into Tow Mode.
