If you don't get it fixed, the recall doesn't go away, it will stay with your vehicle until the repair is completed. If you keep it until it's a pile of rust sitting in a field, the recall will still be on file. If you sell it, the potential new buyer will see the recall is outstanding, and if you try to trade it in, it'll show the recall hasn't been completed when a dealer pulls up the VIN. Personally I'd much rather know that the glue holding the windshield in isn't going to melt in the heat and cause my windshield to leak or fall out...but, you do you.
