Factory Bumpers - Winch?

So...
  • The standard bumper is plastic and is the default bumper for Base, Big Bend, Outer Banks, and Wild Track. It includes tow hooks that can be used for flat towing and can have fog lights installed as part of the Big Bend equipment group so you'd also see those on the Outer Banks and Wildtrack.
  • The Heavy Duty Modular Bumper is standard on Black Diamond, Badlands, and First Edition. It has a slew of features and is a required add for the brush guard and front steel bash plate options. Also, if you plan to order a winch from the factory, you'll be getting this bumper added to your order. If you're ordering a Big Bend, Outer Banks, or Wildtrack and want to bring your own foglamps since it will not include the foglamps that come with those trims, this the option to get.
Ok, the heavy duty modular bumper comes on the BD, BL and FE and it is the bumper that comes with the factory winch.

If you have a BD, BL or FE, anyone know if you can just mount the winch or what other part you will need? If I ordered a BD, BL or FE can I just order a winch and mount it?

Thanks.

It is my understanding the winch that is available on the accessory list comes with the winch mounting solution and can be mounted to either the Heavy Duty Modular or Capable Bumpers.

Since the capable bumper isn't available, I think it's just a heavy duty modular bumper thing now. That being said, I'm wondering what that mounting solution really is, if anything.

I hope for $2500 it would be turn key...not 100% though. According to the info in B&P it "includes hardware and brackets to mount to a Ford Capable Front Bumper."

It's a pretty big mount that basically looks like a smaller bumper in front of the bumper. It looks like it bolts directly to the frame where the recovery points normally are (though it has its own).

I figured it'd be on the accessories list so you could mount whatever winch you wanted, but it's not. Most likely it'll be offered at some point. Hopefully a better solution will eventually be offered, like a bumper that you can put the winch in.

Have you looked at the base bumper?? There are many photos on here of each trim level, even Fords documents (yes obviously you don't like their materials) shows the bumper levels and options. But, then since Ford isn't your cup of tea then look at the AM as your option to better fit you

As more companies prepare for after market sales, we begin to see concept photos of front bumpers with integrated winch mounts. This photo caught my eye.

I have the Ford production Warn mount. I recently bought JCR Offroad's front trail cam relocate kit. My initial intention was to mount their bracket to the winch’s fairlead, and make a couple bends to achieve the camera plate perfect vertical. It would’ve worked, but I’d have to re-powder coat, plus the camera would have no protection.

My solution was to cut off the outboard ears of the bracket, see mock-up in bottom picture below. The third picture show the completed bracket. Next, I marked the Ford tube where the bracket has two existing slotted holes. I drilled holes in the tube, and fastened the bracket. The slotted bracket holes are perfect for any aligning needed, and the tube protrudes outboard to protect the camera. Speaking of the camera, it’s service part number is M2DZ-19G490-C, but is on national backorder.

To the best of my knowledge, no one has produced to kit to relocate the camera on the Ford Warn package. JCR Offroad seems a really good company, so I shared with them what I did.

Would be nice to see a front-mounted 2" receiver bumper. With that you could attach and remove a winch as needed from either the front or back

I had that on my Explorer and F150. Problem was that it wasn't protected.
