Double honk scenarios

I know the double honk occurs when the engine is running and you get out with the keys. What other scenarios cause the double honk? Today, I stopped and turned off the Bronco, left my keys in the center console (like I usually do because I use the keypad on the door), and got out and closed the door and it double honked. It doesn’t normally do this, but it has happened at mostly the wrong times (when I’m returning home from work at 5am).

I am not sure what other things set it off but that sounds like the two that I always encountered with the mustangs and escape. I used forscan and disabled the double honk on the mustangs. I don’t know if someone has forscan sorted out for the bronco yet. Forscan is software you run on your pc and tie into the OBDII port on the car. It allows you to tweak the AS BUILT table in the body control module that would for example set tire size for speedometer to read correctly. It also sets other items like the horn honks along with quite a few things. It’s not a tune and does not then hurt your warranty. Your just changing settings not exposed to the vehicle screen and settings that even the dealer is clueless about.

I have Forscan and the adapter. I disabled the first scenario, but not the other. It’s driving me crazy, because I can’t pinpoint when it’s going to occur.

It’s because it’s senses that you left the key in it. It’s a reminder to take your key.

Is there a forscan list of values and what they change yet for the bronco?[/QUOTE]

I’ve left it in there hundreds of times, closed the door, and pressed the last two digits on the keypad to lock it without the double honk going off.

Could be it thinks not all the doors are closed or hood is up. It's random but there's a solution

I’ve done that. Works perfectly. It’s when it’s not running and I leave the key in the Bronco and close the door, that it sometimes/rarely double honks. I have been leaving the keys in the Bronco and locking from the outside Keypad for 5 months with no double honking.

It’s a lot like my lights randomly coming on after it’s been parked for HOURS.

Or when I unlock and open the door to get in and the chime is already going off before starting it.

Or when I stop, shut it down and exit the lights remain on as if it’s running.

mine has been an electrical nightmare since I took delivery. (2022 base)

unfortunately, get used to it is my only advice. Very disappointing.

Mine does this too. It may do other things that I haven’t noticed. Now you’ll have me looking for these.
Is Ford aware???

Yes they are and the only response I got pretty much said they’ve sent it to …somewhere land at ford. Nothing since.
The issue I have is I’ve researched it like crazy, have only seen bronco sports addressed as far as lights won’t shut down probably, but there never seemed to be resolved. NOT ok on a brand new vehicle. Keep an eye out for those gremlins. I knew i wouldn’t be the only one with these issues.

Double honked again this morning.
1) Park
2) Push Button to stop engine
3) Leave key fob in center console
4) Close door

Double honk

Clearly these vehicles have electrical issues whether or not Ford chooses to acknowledge it.

I’m curious…
Is there any chance you have your back seat folded down. ?
Or Groceries in the back seat ?
Im wondering if the back seat sensor is showing an occupant .

I do have a couple of pairs of pants and shirts on hangers lying on the seat. Nothing too heavy.

I’m just curious if those are triggering an occupancy warning.
I know these “smart” airbag systems have been changing over the years…
One Example from years ago…
Ford Seats used to sense if a child or someone was leaning forward during airbag deployment and automatically adjusted for that distance.
im not saying that’s what’s going on.
Just saying maybe the sensors are reading someone or dog getting left in the back seat ?
Just trying to help sort it.

I get a double honk and the lights stay on when I am in auxiliary mode, get out, with the key and close the door. My point is maybe when you stop the engine it still is in auxiliary mode or thinks it is?

What is auxiliary mode? Never heard of this.

Just pushing the start/stop button w/o pushing on the brake. Maybe I should have used another way of explaining it but it just turns on all the electronics. It’s like turning you key but not all the way till the engine cranks, like in the old days :)
