Yo!
Just taking the roof n' doors off again as the weather is getting nice. This time after taking it all apart I noticed that all the "interior" lights were remaining on. Then I turned on the car and it said "Passenger Door Ajar" which seemed odd because ... I mean. You know.
I looked up the issue on the googles and found a thread at 6G where there seemed to be a variety of potential solutions, but one stood out to me that looked promising: corrosion on the connector. That's something I can work with pretty easily.
I got some Q Tips and isopropyl alcohol and scrubbed down the pins in the door connector. One of them looked particularly promising: the big fat one:

My assumption is that this wide clip is prevented from making contact when the door plug is inserted. When the plug is removed, this is how it knows the door hardware is missing. However when there' corrosion in there, it is unable to complete the circuit and it thinks the door is still affixed.
A few moments with the Q Tip and Alcohol, I've got a clean connector, and the error has gone away.
Hope this helps someone else in the future.
Happy good weather driving y'all!
