This is honestly the first time I have ever been mistaken for Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart. Thank you for watching the video.

I had to check , but "The Anvil" passed away a few years ago.
Some folks might take the reference as a slight.
I hope you don't. When I grew up, wrestlers were superstars.
The auto start stop function drives me up a wall. Thanks for posting.

Only when I hit the first stop light, and hear the engine cut-out. I don’t really get angry, just disappointed in myself for not remembering…

I like pushing buttons, mostly other peoples buttons. If I’m riding shotgun, I’ve got ya covered.

To all Bronco passengers, specifically shotgunners, your only job is to hit the Auto-Stop button and NOT jack around with radio and heat/AC. . .

In all seriousness, I was surprised to find this on the MT Broncos. It does seem to be fairly seamless, and I haven’t noticed the random operation that you mentioned. But I do hate it.

There is a good possibility ESS may become an option over being standard. Well more of a removal of ESS. Ford just started doing this with the F-150. This of course is due to the chip shortage.

So the is at least one upside to the chip shortage. The Auto stop makes sense in certain situations, but I am not continuously idling at stop lights, so that is not me. I think engaging the system should be the default option, not disengaging it.

Historically, engines wear out faster that require a lot of starts (city miles). I hope the technology has advanced where this auto start/stop feature does not put long term wear and tear on the motor. I plan on keeping my Bronco for 10+ years.

Don't Broncos have a 'A' button just on top centered over the radio controls that disables start/stop? Mine has it and it's the first thing I do when I start my car. No more stop/start at intersections.

Or is this something entirely different?

ASS is a terrible feature that should be banned from existence lol.

It's especially bad in a 2.3 MT 4 door with 37s etc. Like mine. See pic.

The auto stop eliminator was one of my first mods back in September. Link below. Worth the $100 it cost to buy it. I never have to think about it again. Love it.

Takes about 45 min to install. The hardest part is removing and re-inserting the lower dash. They have an install video on their site. Just tape the plastic trim on both sides (masking tape) before you begin install bc the dash, when removing, can scratch it.

Yep that is the same thing. The eliminator just keeps you from having to remember to push the button. The A.S.S always seems to do its thing right the the most inconvenient time. My ‘20 equinox has ASS but no button to turn it off. I have to use manual mode and just leave it in 9th.

The answer is no. ... Automotive engineers don't use 'traditional' starter motors in these situations The Start & Stop Engine System works by stopping the engine whenever the vehicle reaches 0 mph and the brake pedal is depressed. When released, the engine restarts and the vehicle accelerates normally. This reduces fuel consumption, especially in high-traffic situations where stops are longer than normal.

There is an AM fix for that … I don’t have details right now, but I know I saw it.

Yep. Seen the fix, just don’t see installing it. I let my motor warm up for a minute or so , plenty of time to push a button, adjust radio, adjust tune settings, etc.

I get why people want the AM solution, and glad it’s available!

Some of the earlier versions were able to be fooled by rolling really slowly to a stop.

Rumor has it that you can disable it with FORSCAN. Take a look here for that and some other handy things you can do with FORSCAN.
