Did you change the Wheel Speed tool, and recalibrate the TPS?

If you went from the stock 33's to a 35" tire, did you worry about having the wheel speed tool changed/adjusted and did you have the TPS recalibrated? The dealer wants around $700 to do all that and honestly, I'm not sure it's worth all that. It never has been in the past (for me).
However with all the newfangled electronics in these things, I'm wondering if it really does need to be done.

Curious to know how many of you have had that done, of if you just slapped on the 35's and rolled with it.

All of the engine/transmission parameters will be off slightly. Definitely not a deal breaker, and nothing bad will happen, just not ideal.

$700 is way too much honest, not surprised you're trying to avoid it.

At that price you might as well just do it yourself. There are many programmers out on the market that'll do it for relatively cheap under $100, including Forscan. Admittedly some are a little on the sketchy side, but most work okay-ish.

If you want an official Ford tool, I would recommend a Procal 4. The basic Procal tool (link) can make wheel size/gearing changes, show you error codes, and give you some basic troubleshooting functionality. Or... option B is to buy a Procal with a performance tune. Those can be ordered from Ford Performance as well, but if you are a Bronco Nation member you can get a discount:

  • 2.3L (Part No. M-9603-B23) - LINK
  • 2.7L (Part No. M-9603-B27) - LINK

The tune itself is easy to install, BUT has to be installed by a certified mechanic or a dealer to retain the warranty. Wheel size/axle changes can be made on the fly though without any warranty concerns, and you can always buy the Procal with the tune now and wait to install the performance tune.

---

I've personally always just made the necessarily changes when I swapped tire sizes, but I also have access to a variety of tuners.

the following things will be off:
MPH
Odometer readings
fuel mileage

If you can find someone who lives near you with a laptop and forscan, they'll probably do it for pizza and beer. I know I would.

CALGECKO's post above to change the tire size in Forscan is correct.
By the way, typically the Sasquatch Bronco's show 35" tire size when in Forscan. The tires are 34.4" thus the speedo of off about a mile an hour. ...and 17 extra miles for every 1,000 miles. If this math is correct, at the end of the bumper to bumper warranty of 36,000 miles the OD will show about 612 miles more than actual.
I will have pizza, beer and gas money for my future friend with forscan. Currently i shown 5600 miles on my '22 Black Diamond, Sasq, MT.

Speaking of… if anyone in New England needs help with this sorta stuff, let me know.

Not a fan of alcohol to be honest (strange, I know), but contributions to my coffee addiction are appreciated. Dunkin’ gift cards in particular seems to be the secondary currency used in New England.

Thanks for the input guys. I may look into the Procal. If I'm going to spend the $$ it might as well
be on something that I can use going forward and not just one time dealer charge.

Also Keep in mind if you go with the Ford Performance Tune you will have to use Premium Fuel. Maybe not a big issue but incase it is...

Thanks for that info. I'll probably just stick with the monitoring part.
