After several calls to Ford Pass it was discovered that when battery get low ,9.5-11 v the power module will disconnect certain electronic module like modem. Took several calls.

Started after oil change, then Ford Pass wanted updated version, then tried to remote lock NADA!

This morning started and connectivity was on. However after short idle, on stop ending a message came up on touchscreen about power module is shutting down certain module like modem.

Ford Pass showed 2/23/23 10:30 Am off on 3/3/23 6:57Am back on, the off after stop engine.

Voltage of battery, per Ford Pass, was 12 v @6:57 Am.

If you dont run Bronco , it will discharged , due to electrical devices like modem.

A service bulletin has been posted and says will be part of June over air software update, but dont know how it affects modem discharging battery, due to storage. But power module appears to work well!

I once bought some enormous fireworks that were literally the size of sticks of dynamite. We would go into the field behind our house, slide them into the biggest cow patties we could find, and blow them sky high. It was exhilarating and, for the cows, incredibly confusing.

According to Ford Pass supervisor the above SSB is only applicable to 2023 and when the battery power management show a voltage according to Ford Pass 12.1V the Bronco goes into "Deep Sleep mode" and the modem is turned off and no more battery draw. A message was sent via Ford Pass to that effect as well on touch screen.

They are verifying no power drain by modem in Deep Sleep mode. Battery is 100% covered for 36 months from date in service. Bronco going in again next week to check electrical charging and battery (Mat Glass $300) Ford Pass helpful believed I phone communicates signal, but have old flip and Fire Tablet with Ford Pass acting as Android. No phone connected with Ford Pass, so must have some internal IP type address and antenna.

Curious as to where you are seeing battery voltage on FordPass…. I don’t see that on mine, and I seem to have full connectivity…

I had a 2020 Escape hybrid that started going into Deep sleep mode once or twice a week… Solved it with a new 12v battery. Not sure how old your Bronco is, but it may have a battery that’s not taking or keeping a charge.

Ford Pass believes in Deep Sleep modem is off. But here is what the tech industry says:
Internet Connectivity in Cars
A connected car is always connected to the internet via an embedded chipset or SIM card, and it can access the internet, provided there is stable wireless network coverage. Connected vehicles can also provide onboard WiFi connectivity, download over-the-air updates released by the manufacturer and access other online apps and services.

App to Car Connectivity
Nowadays, car manufacturers provide a dedicated smartphone app that connects with the vehicle through the wireless network. The app allows users to remotely operate the functions of a car such as locking/unlocking the door, opening sunroof, engine start/stop, climate control, headlight on/off and honk the horn. The app will also help to locate the car via the onboard GPS.

Appear both above members are right! Always on even though toggle switch is off!

Chipset need power. I am on internet via Fios. Bronco is on through embedded chip set connected to Ford via Bronco antenna! This can be part of parasitic battery draw, causing Deep Sleep.

Going to dealer to have battery tested!😁😁

Vehicle to Cloud (V2C): The V2C connection is established via the wireless LTE network, and it relays data with the cloud. Vehicle to cloud connectivity is mainly used for downloading over-the-air (OTA) vehicle updates, remote vehicle diagnostics or to connect with any IoT devices. Ford does not disclose what V2C LTE network, but most like ATT selling wifi

This is from a Ford website on embedded modems:

Available on vehicles with embedded modem or equipped with plug-in device (PID). Requires modem activation. Ford Telematics and Ford Data Services are subscription services subject to agreement to FSM terms and conditions. Subscription subject to monthly charge. Subject to OFAC and credit check for subscription eligibility. Connected service and features, and access to vehicle data depend on subscription and compatible AT&T network availability. Evolving technology/cellular networks/vehicle capability may limit functionality and prevent operation of connected features.

2 Available on Ford vehicles with embedded modem. Requires modem activation and agreement to digital terms and conditions. Complimentary access will exist for the life of the vehicle or the life of the product. Connected service and features, and access to vehicle data depend on subscription and compatible AT&T network availability. Evolving technology/cellular networks/vehicle capability may limit functionality and prevent operation of connected features

These embedded modem chipset were developed by fleet management truck user. No fleet manager would want a drive to turn off his modem. Police can use embedded modem like fleet managers for GPS.

Ford Pass does not know the telematrics systems, therefore t?he Embedded Bronco modems are constantly adding to parasitic voltage drop. They advise to drive Bronco once every 14 days to prevent deep sleep. Charging cycles for glass mat batteries are 900 times from extreme low voltage say 9.5v.

Deep sleep may save these batteries, but embedded Bronco modem do draw current 24/7 just for GPS signals. How do you think you can locate in Ford Pass where your Bronco is parked!

Im not sure that’s true… in terms of drawing current 24/7…. When i pull up FordPass the updates are many times hours old, and it takes a minute or so for the app to “wake up and check” on the modem (IMHO)…

Today took two trips. A fishing expo then stop to shop. The touchscreen stated "power of devices" or something like that. I recycled the connectivity slide while Bronco running and stopped.

Just now checked in with Ford Pass and got updated miles To 1102, and fuel reading. It appears the embedded modem continues sending data and contributes to battery drain. Also it updated oil life to 97% after oil change on 2/23/23 when first had issues. It said " updated one hour ago". Sounds real time to me!

Well I had a garden in NYC and my grandmother had chickens. Some time she would cit their heads off and they kept running. That house was on a dead end next to a elevated NYC train. My second car was a 1955 Ford. Ran ok. It was my father-in-law's. Since then spent hundred of thousands on cars, diesel pusher, boats and this Bronco going to my grandson. Just want to know it is running right. He fishes Montauk Point.

Spoke to US FISHERY FEDERAL AGENT on are sharks protected, since my grandson caught one and when it was beached , they just cut the line.

It updates when you open the app! Sheeesh. If you leave the app running in the background of your phone it may or may not update (on my iPhone wont update until I tell it to…)

The Ford Rangers are notorious for going into deep sleep mode after only a few days. I got tired of it and changed the battery charge rate via Forscan from the factory default 70% to 90% and have had no further issues .

You are correct. On all of my Ford vehicles, when left off for extended periods of time, it goes into power/save mode. Just did this with my wife’s 23 Escape after sitting for a week and a half. Started up and drove it and is all good. Go to Costco and purchase a battery tender. Have one on each of my Mustang right now. These vehicles are never truly off. When I was installing my interior dome lights I had the battery disconnected over night and lost no settings on my radio or preferences in the on board computer.

Here is what Ford Says now:

Why does the FordPass®*App say my vehicle is in Deep Sleep Mode when it isn't?

We are aware that some Members might see a banner message in the app advising your vehicle is in Deep Sleep Mode when using the FordPass App, even though it does not meet traditional deep sleep conditions. Your remote commands are inoperable when this happens.

Performing a key cycle (turning the vehicle on and then back off again) will restore the functionality of the remote commands; however, the symptom may recur when attempting to use them again.

"Our engineering team is working on a fix for this issue that will be released via a future Software Update."

Please make sure you have the latest version of the FordPass App and where applicable, you have Software Updates enabled so that you get notified when the fix is available.

Note: Software Updates are enabled in your vehicle by default. Click here for more information on changing automatic update settings.

*FordPass, compatible with select smartphone platforms, is available through a free download. Message and data rates may apply. Available in select cities.

Did we answer your question?

Finally Ford Pass they get voltage telematrics. Supervisor says was 12.015 Volts. No where a low battery condition. When driven yesterday dash says 15 v charging. May be bad glass mat battery $300 or defective alternator, or battery power module of just crappy software like stated above.

Porsche in garage always on trickle charges. Range Rover never, but Jag XF had low battery module on battery terminal ,but never worked.

Bottom line back to dealer for actual battery load test and documented voltage. Also found the start stop has been disenabled. Great one PIA😆😆😆😆
