Crosswind Whistling

I know about the mirror TSB on the lower trims, but I don't think that's what's going on in our Badlands...

Yesterday was super windy. A lot of crosswinds. The windows themselves seemed to be whistling so loud that it was deafening. Passenger side was the worse side. Cracking the window an inch made it go away, but then you freeze. I thought it could be the luggage rack or the hard top, but given that cracking the window made it go away, I'm inclined to believe it's the windows (though the rack or top could certainly be contributing to redirecting some of the wind down to the windows).

Drove it to the dealer to see if they could take a quick look, the service tech inspected the seals and said everything seemed to look alright, there wasn't much they could do. I tried putting some lube on the seals, that didn't help at all either. Today, with no wind... everything is fine. I'm not convinced the rear edge of the window on the passenger side is super tight against the seal, but adjusting it didn't seem to bring it any closer.

Has anyone else run across wind noise in heavy crosswinds and how did you fix it?

I've had the whistling with both a heavy crosswind and very cold temps. So far I haven't figured out a solution. My first thought on the heavy winds, it seemed to be coming from the opposite side of the wind. Maybe makes a low pressure area and pulls the window out a little? Just not sure.

I used some 3/4” pipe insulation the rubber kind and stuffed it the length of the removable sections of the hard top from windshield to rear hard top. You have to take off the front panels and loosen the rear panel then you can stuff the insulation in there. Then run it to the wind shield and cut to fit. It should take 1 six foot piece per side. It might be worth a try it will set you back about $6.00. The G6 guys have a thread on this. It make sense when you see the space you have and the size of the pipe insulation. Something like this. https://www.menards.com/main/plumbi...ulation/iprst07812/p-1444435954535-c-8589.htm

I have the same problem. Turning the climate control to recirculate helps some and does not make it colder.

I’m not trying any of those dumb B6G forum hacks. Those kids are nuts. There’s a perfectly reasonable fix for it, it just involves identifying the source of the problem. In this case, I found it this morning. The rubber seals on the front doors have a small seam near the top in the rear. The seam on the passenger side is depressed the tiniest bit that it’s not making contact with the window when it’s shut. Putting a piece of tape over it temporarily fixed the whistling. I have an appointment to get the weather seal diagnosed, at which point they’re expecting it’ll need to get replaced. Putting a seam in a window seal was a really dumb idea on Ford’s part.

Here are the pictures of the seam on the front passenger door, and the tiny little crack between the seal and window that’s been the source of all my whistling, and a lot of wind noise. Putting a small piece of friction tape over the seal completely solved the problem. Hoping the replacement seal will be better. Do your Broncos have the same seam? Does anyone have the part number for this?

Had the same problem last winter '23, found out this small little "sponge" wind diffuser was missing. It was replaced and seemed to fix the issue. Here we are '24 and it's doing it again. I checked and it seems to not be as large as the one on the driver's side. I'm convinced this is the problem and the fix. This one just needs to be cut a little larger and replaced. First pic is the driver side, second pic is the passenger side. Notice the passenger side is set in a little too far, which I think is causing the issue. Remember, it was missing entirely and was whistling out of control. After being replaced it has only whistled in extreme winds. I think a little adjustment and the issue goes away.
