I see all of these meet ups and stuff, but nothing really for Connecticut. I know we don’t have places to off road here, but is anyone interested in doing a meet up somewhere ? I think it would be cool to hang out and talk Broncos. Maybe do a drive somewhere to have a picnic or something.

I'm down if you want to try to throw something together.

You are correct that there is precisely zero places to off-road, which is directly related to why there are so few events here. About a decade ago you could off-road in Pachaug State Forest over on the CT/RI border, but the state closed that down to full-sized vehicles awhile back... so we got nothing.

I will say that @Tri-State Broncos often has get togethers, usually around the White Plains / Newburgh / Poughkeepsie areas. And BONES (Bronco Owners of North East States) also has quite a few events. @tasker just did the annual May It Forward event up in central Massachusetts, and it was pretty awesome. But generally speaking Connecticut is an off-road dead-zone.

I did see those events, but they are still kind of far. The mass one was 4 hours, the New York ones are 2 hours then another however long for the drive that they do together. I would like to do the tri state event at the off road park, but I am brand new go off roading and would be going solo so I’m not sure.

Next time we go I'll make sure to put an Event up here on BN. The best thing to do when you are brand-new to off-roading is to go with a group.

But yeah... unfortunately any amount of semi-serious off-roading we do will result in a bit of a drive for us. The closest trail is the Mabell trail near Northampton, MA... and even that is a good hour drive or so from central Connecticut. There is truly nothing local for us. 😣

Oh, I know north Hampton MA! I’ll have to look that trail up. That’s a much closer drive for me.

There are some dirt roads to explore in the northwest corner.Wineries, at least one distillery. Restaurants out the wazoo.

There are always malls.😆

Quick search brought this up…. As said above, a lot has been closed, but this article talks about 6-8 trails available when the post was written…

I consider many of the roads as off-roading in CT since so many of the them are complete crap. I am closer to NY though. Like 25 min

Sorry for the late response here.

As long as your have the sasquatch package, or similar with at least 33 inch tires, you will be fine, we get out and spot for each other for any obstacles that we are unsure of and stay mainly on green trails, but some guys do like to do some blue trails.

I was told about a Cars and Coffee this Sunday that is happening in Bridgeport CT at Park City Ford and they are trying to get as many Broncos as possible. I will not be there since we have 20+ broncos going to Rausch Creek this weekend.

Things went great! Had a few cancelations, and the only major damage on Saturday was self inflicted (taking the much more difficult path, which caused a little damage to a fender, grill and mirror 😬)

A few of us went out on Sunday and we got to do some recovery (broke a rear axle) and trail side repairs (while we were towing the Bronco back to the trailhead, both tires blew, but we got him back, with no further damage)

I genuinely believe that some degree of risk adds to the fun. But then: I'm strange.
