Our 12', 13' Super Duties and 18' Highlander still have caps, and inside those fuel doors sits 2" dirt from living on and driving dirt roads. Anyone have a similar situation? Are the doors sealed well on capless filler vehicles?

My current Edge has it and in winter, the vehicle is ALWAYS dirty... the capless filler is the only clean part on it. So I guess it’s kind of sealed. I like it a lot!

My 14 Explorer has capless. Like @tobjo said very clean. On my Explorer there is a perimeter seal on body side like picture below.

My 2020 Ford Ranger stays clean...I love not having a cap (and the inevitable loose cap fault).

I think it depends on what type of roads you travel as to whether it stays clean in there or not.

The big difference is the fuel door design between capped and capless.

There is no seal around the door on capped fuel doors

As mentioned above the capless system has a seal around the body side for the door.

Thanks for the replies, I'm feeling a little better about it. Here's the Highlander after about a month.

Yeah, I can see why you would be concerned. Shouldn't have that issue with the Bronco.
