Hi All,
Anyone checked out their Bronco mileage with and without the Ford factory roof rack? Without has to make a difference but hopefully not enough to keep it off!

Driving a vehicle with the aerodynamics of a brick. Pretty sure it's not gonna matter much...

Not the factory rack but I have the trail rak set up on mine and with all the stuff mounted on top I lost about 1/2 MPG.

Nice sliders. Are those welded or bolted to the frame?

When I pulled the rack off we gained about 2-3 mpg- your mileage may vary.

Personally gained 0.6 MPG in my highly flawed and unscientific test—not enough to really notice a difference honestly.

I did, however, notice a dramatic drop in wind noise.

Jason's sliders have historically been bolt-on (DeMello is a Toyota-world celeb. based in Riverside, CA); these Bronco ones may be different.......

My IQ test came back. It was negative! 🤔

I noticed a couple mpg better when I removed my stock roof rack also. However, I only had the rack on for the first few tanks of gas (break in period) when the Bronco was new. I removed the rack so I could remove the second roof panel. As RagnarKon said, the wind noise is definitely less.

Yeah I pulled the rack off to remove the second roof panel also that was about 5,000 miles in so could be getting used to driving it and break in also factoring into it. Didn’t notice a wind noise reduction until I plugged the gaping hole between the roof and sports bar. The second roof panel, the whole length on the passenger side had about a 1/16” gap. Now it sounds like all the windows are rolled up all the way.

Bolted…1/2 inchers. Super sturdy. Each rail weighs 50lbs…weight well spent IMHO! The rails are for real.
