Lots O Fords

Before my Bronco came I think I watched every YouTube video I could find. on them. Last night I was watching a Bronco vs Jeep video and I got to thinking about the comments and reviews we get from the all knowing YouTube.
Like 2 door vs 4 door, jeep vs bronco 4 cyl vs v6. They know.
We hear complaints about, no air conditioned seats, no rear air, where ever will I put my bla bla bla. 2 doors look better, 4 doors are more useful, not enough cup holders, road noise in an off road vehicle is unacceptable. It's amazing anyone ever bought a Bronco or a Jeep with all that good information.

Now, I go by Lots O Fords, because, well, I have lot's of Fords (and a jeep). So using my vehicles in the example, here is my take.

Lets start with the off road thing. to much electronics, wheelbase, width, solid axle is better than independent. Then get an old Jeep. I don't mean a used oversized Rubicon, I mean something made during or right after WWII. After all, they made the trails we use today, they drove all over the world. The problem is there are not many reviews on YouTube. So I should tell you, the top; forget it, no a/c, no cup holder, no adaptive cruise and you cannot tell if it has road noise because of all the wind. But man can it 4-wheel.

Power. They all seem to care how fast it can go. 0-60 time, are you kidding me. I say, don't waist the time tuning a Bronco or a raptor, get a Shelby. But wait, it doesn't tow, no rear cup holders or rear a/c and it is not available in a 4 door. If its an older than 2016 it has a solid rear axle and the YouTube reviewers said it needs independent rear end, they must be right. So that's out.

So maybe less power, but I need to be pampered when I drive and I have lots of stuff to carry. Get an Expedition King Ranch, not the short one, get the XL. It's got cup holders everyplace, air conditioning blowing from all directions and zones, half the top opens with the push of a button and so many do dads to pamper you. And it tows more. Oh wait, Expedition reviews say it only tows 10,000 pounds. Dam.

I got it, get a super duty. And not just any wimpy super duty, got to have a 4 door long bed 4x4 dually F-450 King Ranch trim or above. Now this baby has room, gobs of power every fru fru thing in the expedition and man can tow Oh, wait, I saw a review comparing it to a Mazda Miata. The reviewer said its like driving a building. He could not park at Starbucks, to big to go off road, not that he ever has. It gets horrible fuel milage and he couldn't' afford to fill the 48 gallon tank.

So if we simply buy one of every type vehicle we will have the perfect vehicle for a given moment at our disposal. Now I need to look on youtube to see how to extend my garage.

Ha!
The Bronco won't please everyone, but it pleases the right people. The others move on ;) No, no hard feelings toward those that found parts of it flaws, not "features."

So this is a review of reviews.
You have to take anything on YT with a yuge grain of salt.

As they say, with all due respect, at this point in the game, who cares about any of the Bronco, Jeep junk. If ya buy it and don't like it sell it. Oh here's where the bla, bla,bla comes in. :0)

I love the reference to the old (real) Jeep.... I remember the days of looking through the holes in my floorboard and hoping I didn't drop anything out onto the trail..... I feel absolutely spoiled with this thing. I feel like I am driving a Cadillac out on the trail, but a capable one, really capable. Does it have it's faults? Everything does. Nothing in this world is perfect. But gosh darn I sure feel spoiled! This thing is my easy button.

We've got a 2022 Wildtrak and a 2022 Gladiator. Love them both but they're as different as night and day to me. The Gladiator is our go to run around vechicle as it is easy to park, responsive, and just plain fun to drive. Long highway trips not so comfy, offroad again fun but can be rough.

The Wildtrak is completely different. It is very comfy, both offroad and highway, easy and fun to drive. It is just so far ahead of the Gladiator as a highway vechicle, but still amazing offroad.

We just returned from a driving trip to Colorado and Moab in the Bronco. Except for one day we were in the Bronco driving all day everyday, and no aching back. We did some fairly challenging trails for us both places, and the set the cruise on 80 coming back to Texas. After all that offroading not a squeak or rattle on the highway coming home. We couldn't believe it!

We both agree for a retired couple if we could have only one of them it would hands down be the Bronco. It is just a more complete vehicle for us.

That was my intention. To poke fun at those reviews telling people what "they" don't like about a vehicle.

As an example, so many talking about all the road noise.
Well I must have bought a special bronco because for the vehicle it is, I don't see anything to complain about.

Agree, this is what I did. 4-door sedan, 2-seat sports Roadster, 2-seat sports Coupe, 4x4 ORV 4-door Pickup, and the Bronco.

A guy has gotta have shoes...

Because we just came back from a short road trip in the Hummer H3T over Christmas, it is as capable off road as the Gladiator but even more comfortable as the Bronco. If the Hummer came with a manual transmission (mated with the small block), I'd not own a Bronco.

Now wait a second... The H3 Alpha....(you said "small block" which infers you have the 5.3 LS which means it is the "Alpha") you have it mated to a Manual???? I thought the only way to get the manual was to have it mated to the 5 cylinder?

I have an 09 Canyon with the 5.3... Stable mate to the H3 Alpha they only made it from 09 to 13... It is a very capable off roader in that it has the locking rear diff.... Articulation sucks compared to the Bronco and especially to the Jeep. Do not think I like the torsion bar suspension. Saves room vertically but not all that impressed. I find the front and rear coil-over on the bronco rides far superior to the torsion bar / leaf spring on the Canyon/H3 Alpha. The Canyon/H3 Alpha is a nice vehicle... I just do not see how you got the manual with the "small block" and I very much disagree that it is anywhere close to as capable as a gladiator off road. It does track better on road though and better for longer road trips. I will chose my Bronco over the Gladiator any day though on road or off road. Capabilities I think are similar but their approach to how they accomplish things is completely different. My Bronco is way more capable off road than my Canyon.

You missed a word. I said if the H3T came with the small block mated to a manual I would have not bought a Bronco... In other words, I bought a Bronco because it comes with a manual transmission. My H3T also has the Adventure Package, which is an upgraded suspension unique to the Hummer. The H3T and the Canyon share only about 10% of the same parts. The front drive of the H3T is different than the Canyon/Colorado. The Alpha + Adventure Package adds a locking front diff to the H3T.

I will add though, I recently had the H3T's ECU and TCU tuned by a company in North Carolina that changes the 4L60's shift characteristics and adds 15 HP to the engine. It greatly improves the drivability of the automatic trans drivetrain; I wish I had done it years ago.

My apologies, I did miss that. I do like my 5.3 Canyon. The Bronco is so very beyond it though..... Not finding your post now... but I think you said you were waiting on your Bronco? I think you are going to love it! At least I do. I still have the canyon for work but man this Bronco is awesome, on road and off. It is not a sports car by any means but if you compare it to the H3 I think you will love it.

Sorry, I deleted the post because I figured people would disagree with my statement and I didn't want to get into an internet war over it. I didn't see your reply at first. I was hoping Ford was going to stick with the Bronco pickup, that'd be ideal for me.

And I do have my Bronco, it's a 2-door 2022 Black Diamond with just the advanced transfercase as the only option. I was a Bronco Reservationist from 2020. It finally showed up mid-Summer 2022. Oh, the drama! - LOL. Yeah, the MIC has a tinge of snakeskin. BFD. You can't see it unless you look for it and the sun hits it just right. Not sure why everyone got so hard over about the texture of the MIC. It's an ORV meant to get beat up. To me the Bronco is like a sport truck when equipped with the 2.3L EcoBoost and manual transmission. The H3T is an excellent highway truck and has great capabilities off road to boot.

Now, the 1987/1988 Ford Ranger STX, that was a a great sport truck. Mine was the regular cab/7-foot bed 2.9L Colone V6 with the Mazda 5-speed manual. I wish I had kept that one.

Driving that Canyon... I ran into a large group of jeeps a few years back. ?They were all trying to get up a hill. It was pretty steep but each one seemed intent to hammer the skinny peddle. I sat back on the trail and watched for a while but started to get annoyed at the stupidity. finally started to pass by them. hill climb was off to the left. of the narrow trail I was trying to pass them on. they started feeding me crap as I was trying to pass. Window was down. So I told them they needed to stop trying to bomb it. Slow down and take it easier. They told me there was no way I could make the climb.... So I backed up and slowly turned into it. about 7 mph the whole way up barley slipping a tire. passed the three rigs part way up that had become stuck and went straight up to the top. turned around and they were all racing back down and taking off..... At least I didn't see them again... Yes that H3T is capable.

Mine is not quite stock... Have it up about 5 inches on a custom spring over (my design) with diff drop on 35s.

I should say I don't rock crawl much here in the mid-Atlantic. For the 4-wheeling I do the H3T works great and way more than I'm willing to risk bending parts on it (which you can't get any more anyway). It fords water great, which is what I need it for most; I live on river. It's smallish and heavy. The brakes can barely keep it stopped in 4 low with the diffs locked.

This was not really rock crawling... It was just a step dirt run with a few obstacles along the run... mostly ruts and water wash. Step mountain side. Got to admit my brakes are not quite as good as you would hope for.... Your HT3 at least got disks on the rear didn't it? I got Drums back there. I think the H3T got at least one more cross brace in the frame than the GMC. And your interior is a big step up from mine.
