Bronco modularity...Am I the only one a little worried??

So watching the Sema Bronco special they were really pushing modularity. How easy it is to remove panels, fender flares, running boards, etc. This has me thinking how easy those things will be to steal. Just like how easy it is to get under the hood of a Wrangler that doesn't have hood locks. This just seems like it is setting the Bronco up for major parts theft. And if this becomes a trend it will put the Bronco on a high theft tier with insurance companies. Which means higher than average insurance premiums.

Now I know there is nothing to stop a thief if they want something bad enough. But this just seems like this is leaving the vault wide open and the front door of the bank unlocked after closing.

Thoughts??

No, this won't be a huge issue. It is a marketing term or strategy to sell vehicles. It isn't so much easier to steal parts off a Bronco because they are modular. They are the same difficulty to remove/replace, Ford is just trying to get people to buy-in to the idea that this vehicle "fits" everyone and that anyone can configure the vehicle to match their own brand of individuality. It's nothing more than that. Everyone, with a Bronco, is somehow unique, haha.

Yeah but it takes much more removal of other parts and components to get a fender off. They aren't really meant to be removed with ease. Seems with the Bronco it will be a few bolts and off they come.

They have to get to the bolts on the Bronco just like any other vehicle . They are not exposed .

Maybe I'm over thinking it. But the way they present it in the video, fenders, flares, and running boards come off quickly and easily with basic tools. To me it seems like those parts will be pretty easy to steal. And of that does end up being the case everyone suffers with higher insurance rates.

I don't see anything in my post that resembles complaining. It's what I see as a legitimate concern. Maybe I'm over thinking it. But the way they present it in the video, fenders, flares, and running boards come off quickly and easily with basic tools. To me it seems like those parts will be pretty easy to steal. And of that does end up being the case everyone suffers with higher insurance rates.

I got my 1st vehicle in 1976 . So far no one has stolen my wheels , hood , deck lid or doors and they are all bolted on and easily removed . I would be concerned if the area you park in does have you concerned .

Sure, it is a concern, but I would not be any more worried vs having another open air vehicle like a Jeep. :)

Better to park it in a locked garage, behind a fence in a gated community with 24-hour surveillance. Oh wait, yes, you're way overthinking this.

Most of the hardware is hidden by the doors and hood so if you don't lock your car they can get stolen

It will be a bigger issue in 2022 when those with 2021's see the options they wanted ;) I'm totally joking btw.

I had someone remove one of the tail light assemblies from my ’95 F350 when it was parked in my driveway. Pissed me off. I screwed the replacement in with security screws.

When I was a kid the neighbor had the driveshaft (!) stolen from his car when it was parked in front of his house. So, this sort of thing has always been with us.

Fender flares are the only parts that might be a concern, they come off with no tools, just a 90degree turn of thumb tabs.

Someone stole the driver side door on my dads 88 bronco when I was a kid. Stole it from right outside my bedroom window while I was sleeping.

All these fools calling OP paranoid clearly don't live in sketch neighborhoods.

We're not fools for not living in sketchy neighborhoods. But if you have to open the doors or the hood to take the fenders off I'm not worried. I worry more when its parked were I fish than I do at home.

Neighbor had a driveshaft stolen off of his truck. We're in the middle of nowhere. The source of the problem has left the mountain since then...

In the 80's I worked in construction while in High School and one of the truck drivers had his air seat stolen at a truck stop.

I've heard of wheels getting stolen at 24 hour restaurants too.

This is why you buy insurance.
