Bronco Lift Options

THOUGHTS? Levelling kits space spring/shock modules up. I have to wonder if there are potential issues like ball joint, tie rod ball joint, stabar link articulation angles, brake hose jounce, ABS wire lengths? I doubt Ford vetted out these offerings. In theory, perhaps if you don’t exceed the travel limits of Sasquatch (35” tires), maybe OK. Ford seems likely to someday offer spring/strut kits to do this, like Wrangler has. Time will tell how lifted Bronco holds up. I went with 2.5”coil over shocks providing 2” lift over Sasquatch and replaced the upper control arms. Brake lines look fine , abs wires have plenty of slack. Nothing else is binding. I am sure the lift will wear components out faster than stock, but for me I like the performance the coil overs provide.

Yeah, I have the Ford Warn winch kit on the Outer Banks model, has P255 on 18's. The winch of course lowers the front ride height a bit. I assume you had the alignment re-done, as some shock strut kits even suggest alignment specs. To clarify, you already had the Squatch option, and your Bronco is 2" higher than that?

Correct, I had the Sasquatch package which gave me 1” of lift from stock and added the 4WP coil overs that gave me 2” over that. Alignment was done so it drives just as straight as it did before. Not sure if all models have the same exact component, but worked great on my 4 door badlands. The few I’ve seen as long as you stay under 3” total lift the stock parts work fine. The upper control arms need to be replace from 3”+ to set your alignment to stock spec’s. By the way nice Color it looks like my broncos little brother.

Thx for clarifying! The Bronco lead suspension engineer, Bruce Arnold, is a friend of mine. If I were still working, I'd get a set of springs/strut assy outa Ford engineering.

With the Ford winch kit (not allowed on Outer Banks), I had to relocate the front trail cam to the winch bar, and relocate the adaptive cruise control module to behind the grille, next to left headlight, so those work great. The front parking aid, I just turned that off under "features".

What you need depends dramatically on how you plan to use your bronco. A mall crawler can get away with some lifts that you wouldn't dare use on an offroad rock crawler or mud machine.
Things to consider are
  • Tie Rod angle
  • CV Shaft Angles
The various lifts take both into account, one of them into account, or none or all of them, depending on the manufacturer.

Here is what I want to do. My Bronco will already be Squashed, being a Wildtrak, what is the correct size that I need for a front end level? I have heard everything from 1" to 2.5", is there anyone out there that can tell me the correct one please?

Here is a video from T&C Ford. Might give you some insights.

Are you interested in selling the original Sasquatch spring/shock assemblies that came with your Bronco? My Outer Banks came with MB3C-5310-AH (code TAFAL) in the front and MB3C-5534-AH (code TANAN) in the rear. I'm thinking if I changed to yours, that would be a cost effective way to lift it and some day do 35's. If I had your dealer code and build number, I could easily look up what spring/shocks came with yours.

The problem with the fabtech solution is that it's using Heim joints which dramatically decreases the maintenance interval for them. Ball joints have dust shields and reservoirs to hold grease which keeps dirt and water out of the joint, providing a very long maintenance interval compared to a Heim joint.

Also, in that video, they point out the necked-down material, which isn't that big of a deal. They should look at the axle shafts. When engineered appropriately that transition is perfectly ok.

It seems to me that most basic "leveling kits" have a 2" spacer for the front, and 1" for the rear. So, the end result is a leveled kinda 1" higher.

Thanks for asking, but I have a 2 Door on order which is going to get my take off parts.

Ahh, perfect! If you think about it, let me know of outcomes, like ride/handling attributes. If you like, I can still look up your build, and tell you what shock/spring assy it came with. If you follow me, I retired from Ford Advanced Engineering after 34 years, been "out" 15, but still have my account. Just send me a separate message with your dealer code and build number.
